Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He's a point guard.. playing with LeBron. It took Kyrie, also a point guard, a full season to learn how to play with LeBron. People need to chill.

Also a PG that looks to drive and dish at all costs.

People on here have no chill. Always expecting the best... then want to crap on the worst. This site is a light switch.

He is use to the ball being in his hand but also having chemistry and plays to run with his teammates. He will get use to playing off the ball but he needs time and touches to develop chemistry with everyone. When he has tried to make plays for guys, passes seem to be in the wrong place or guys aren't ready for them, its a two way street for him to make a impact.

While what you are saying is true, he passed up (and has been passing up) quite a few open shots. In the playoffs, Lebron and Kyrie are gonna play 40+ min. each and control the ball the entire game. If Deron can't play without the ball and take and make open spot up shots, then he shouldn't even be on the court, because he doesn't provide anything defensively either.

He definitely needs to be more aggressive, but most of the time he is passing those shots up to someone who's a better shooter. He's passed several up to JR the last few games. It's not like he's passing up the shot and just holding the ball, he's generally moving it for another open look. I'm not saying he should be doing this as much as he is, but it's not like he is making bad basketball plays by doing it.

Deron should be the one running the offense much of the time when he and Kyrie are out there, and we should be looking for ways to get Kyrie open looks from whatever it is we run. Again, this is on Lue for putting Deron out there and not using him to create shots for others. This is why we wanted him, after all; not to score in bunches but to be able to run an offense when LeBron is on the bench.

The DeBron pick and roll has been pretty unstoppable and yet we didn't run it once with Deron having the ball (I think we ran it once with LeBron having the ball).

Why? Williams has shown us nothing useful so far. Nate Robinson is hungry to play again and can create his own shot for himself and others. His defense would be lacking but it cant be any worse than Dwills.

Robinson was trash the last three years he played. eFG% of .407 was the highest he had of those final three years. We don't need him out there taking shots away from much more efficient scorers.

I think Lue should play him without LeBron and Kyrie on the floor. He seems to want to set his teammates up rather than shoot the ball. He can't do that with either of them on the floor because they have the ball in their hands most of the time.

That's essentially what Golden State does in regard to Curry/Green/Livingston. Of Golden State's past two years and top five used lineups... Livingston plays with either Curry or Green in one of them. Deron wasn't brought here to be a spot-up shooter. If we're going to use him like one.. then it was a wasted signing.

This is why I think the clippers game was a miss opportunity to help Deron to integrate into the offense. They could have ran the ball through him every play when he was on the floor and each guy could have communicated to create a set of plays for Deron to run with basically everyone outside the Big 3. High handoffs to TT, drive and kicks to JR/Shump, pick and pop with Frye, etc.

I haven't been impressed with Deron but he's still a big improvement over what we had before backing up Kyrie.

I hate Williams and Kyrie playing together, and I doubt the front office envisioned that being done as much as it has been when they acquired him.

That said, Lue has not yet had a healthy compliment of shooting guards since the Cavs got Williams, so maybe (hopefully) that's a big factor.

The bottom line is that Deron is here to take some pressure off of Kyrie and LeBron with the second unit. I'm of the opinion that he absolutely shouldn't be closing games or playing with Kyrie also on the floor. In the playoffs, he's going to play 10-15 minutes and that's it.

Williams playing with kyrie might be a way to rest kyrie whilst he's still on the floor allowing him to spot up. I do think dwill and Korver getting chemistry is key for the second unit but with the lakers playing Crawford and Russell it it makes sense for caves to play them both. Might also be trying to stop demon ballooning up to hot plate Williams size

I don't understand why they didn't just watch some tape of the Lebron-Delly pick and roll from last year and then re-run it a lot with DWill. That play was really good with Lebron and Delly it should be unstoppable with Lebron and DWill.

Maybe Lue is saving all these plays with Deron for the playoffs? It's the only explanation I have outside of Lue being an awful coach...

Has to be. Serious lack of creativity by our coaching staff with how the non-big 3 are used

We were playing some pretty ugly basketball last year as well. We might just have to face the fact that our team isn't going to break any full season records and hope like last year, we turn it on in the playoffs.

I have issues with how we are playing Deron Williams. He needs to be used significantly more in the pick-and-role. With that said, the fact that people are saying he is doing nothing is astounding to me. Since we signed him most of our players are shooting better from 3pt range. Frye and RJ are both shooting over 52% on catch-and-shoot threes on passes from Deron. He is a good player, but we are still working him into the offense, which is to be expected when the guy is a point guard.
