So Long, James Jones

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Welcome James Jones

He's quietly been a disappointment so far in the SL. I was looking forward to him possibly replacing Gee's role but more limited minutes. James Jones, while playing limited minutes is an upgrade over both. If James Jones is playing it means we are blowing the other team out or we're using him for his specialty which is his 3 point shooting. Great signing.

What's the problem with Felix? He played really well in the first half against Philly -- when he came off, Blatt seemed really pleased with his effort. He was involved defensively and with loose balls and he shot 2-2 (both 3s, though granted he banked one it), with 2 rebounds and a steal in 12 minutes. Not sure why he got no burn in the second half.

Against the Spurs in 13 minutes, he was 3-5 for 7 points, 4 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, only 1 foul.

He's a guy I liked when he was drafted since he projected well as a role player. Can't shoot like some of these other guys. James Jones' skill set is almost completely different. I hope Felix survived the salary purge for a reason.

I just hope Powell is out of the mix. He can go to Canton and let another team sign him if they want him. As I said after they drafted him, it would be a minor miracle if he turned into an NBA player. Harris I can go either way with, but with Miller, Jones, and maybe Allen I don't see a need for him.

So still room for one, maybe two, bigs.

Felix is too one dimensional to be able to get minutes on this team, especially with all the veteran signings. Other players can provide equivalent defense (especially in Blatt's deceptive zone-to-man system) with vastly more offense. I don't think there's anyone here that thinks his summer league stats would carry over to the NBA. Felix will open the season in Canton, if he isn't cut or traded.

Agreed, I highly regret Felix's contract being guaranteed...

Re: Welcome James Jones

I think this was a great signing. Miller, Jones... if only we could add Ray Allen. Talk about a deadly collection of mercenary sharpshooters!

Re: Welcome James Jones

bad signing here or there is okay i guess. at least he is a solid pro

Man, I hope we get Oden -- just so that there is a reasonable chance that one day we trot out a lineup of: Irving/Wiggins/LBJ/Bennett/Oden
That would be awesome.

Oden, just another Leon Powe for the Cavs
Alot were hyped, yet in the end was useless

Bout this signing, I rather have Bron give Boobie a job back instead of James Jones who was actually from Miami anyways

Re: Welcome James Jones

Do we even need safaris anymore? :chuckles:

We've gone from safaris to this:

Re: Welcome James Jones

I had no idea he won the shootout either. He is definitely a guy who never shows much emotion on the court, so it was most likely that he is just forgettable personality-wise. I don't think I've ever seen him smile once and he rarely even talks it seems haha.

Just because you don't know much about him doesn't mean you should assume that. Pretty sure JJ has a pretty vibrant personality actually.

Re: Welcome James Jones

51% from 3 is amazing

Might as well keep goin till the magic juice runs out.

From what I see we still got the Allen and the Love safari

In what way is this a bad signing?

-Sharpshooter from deep
-Solid locker room guy
-Playoff experience
-Experience playing with LeBron
-Vet minimum

I understand that maybe people would've rather had a big man, but this is in no way, shape, or form, a bad signing..

Other than our perceivable transformation into Miami 2.0, I think this is a great move by the team. I wonder how much input LeBron had in both the Miller and Jones signings or do you think they were a carefully orchestrated and rather meticulous move by the Griffin camp in order to pair LeBron with additional players he already felt comfortable playing with?

Plus, I've always said it: 3 point shooters are the key to a championship team. The Finals of the last 4 years certainly do their best to validate that.

LeBron has been heavily recruiting Mike Miller, Ray Allen, and James Jones since he got here as far as i know.
