Kareem Hunt: One Pissed Off Runner!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For the people that are upset about this move, what would you consider to be a fair punishment for Kareem?

And after serving that punishment, is he allowed to play football again?

Him signing with the Browns doesn't get him out of being punished by the league. The Browns not signing him won't fix whatever issue people have with Kareem playing football again.

The outrage has to be aimed at the league for allowing any team to sign someone who shouldn't be playing(depending on how you view the situation) or not handing down a longer suspension(again depending on perspective). The NFL provides the structure and these teams work within that structure.

Kareem is bad guy and no one has to like the move but the conversation isn't very productive if you leave it at that. If the league needs to do better, then where are the practical solutions because this moral high ground bullshit isn't cutting it.

Yeah, an exclamation point suggests that it’s something to celebrate. Also, you’re cool with a joke about the Browns needing a kicker? I’m sure you would be giggling if Hunt had assaulted a woman you knew or cared about.

Just in case I need to get out ahead of it... me rating your post funny does not mean I think hitting women is funny. I thought the kicker joke was funny, AND respect women.

His fresh legs will be great to have as we go into the playoffs.

What he did was wrong. I wont argue that. Personally I dont know "what she said" or "how hard he kicked her".

The one thing I know of is we are in no place to judge this guy. We have all had fuck ups. Some more severe than others. Did we take the punishment of a lifelong suspension from what we love? No. We asked for forgiveness like the pussies we are, showed remorse and became a better man for it.

I dont know if he will do these things but strategically it makes all the sense in the world to sign him. He is a RFA and on a zero tolerance policy. If he comes back this year and lightens the load for Chubb and Duke....great. If he is one and done, fine. We will have the opportunity to place a tender on his contract.

I call myself a feminist.

My 27-year old, pixie-cut hot wife is the biggest feminist I know. We are equals in our relationship.

I showed her the video of Kareem Hunt and that woman, and she said it was no big deal. She broke it down, saying,

"He seemed calm during the confrontation until she got in his face and possibly said something. It's likely she said something because his reaction/demeanor did a 180. It was immediate, eyes wide and lips 'whistled' (when you round your lips in a 'Oooooo no she DID INT!' sort of way), and he only shoved her after she struck him. That's it.

At the end, he was no longer obstructed and had a clear path to brutalize her if he wanted. Instead of launching on top of her or slugging her or stomping her face, he gave a baby kick to her butt, which was the equivalent of someone shoving their cat away with their foot. A, "you're worthless" kick, not meant to do any sort of damage at all, but to indicate that he was done with her."

He COULD have been better, yes. He SHOULD have been better, yes. Should he be suspended? IMO, yes.

But that doesn't mean we should view him the exact same as we view Ratbird Ray Ray brothers, or Joe Mixon, or Greg Hardy, etc...

The day we refuse to objectively analyze these sort of complications in a case by case manner and instead decide to flap our arms and go, 'ZOMG DOEMASTICK ABOOSE HE'S JUST AS BAD AS SAETIN' just because something struck headlines is the day we fail both socially and intellectually.

Don't be that guy.

I'm rating your post funny because I know you're joking in this post I quoted and that you do think hitting women is funny, and don't respect women. You told me so in a pm once.

Let's call it like it is - Kareem Hunt attacked a woman. If it makes one feel better to say, "Well he didn't hurt her that bad", I guess do what makes you feel better. But if we're keeping it real, there are some - I'd even say many - that don't care that he attacked a woman as long as he helps win football games. I don't agree with that mindset, but to each their own. But to those people I'd say this - just own it - enough with the "I just think he deserves a 2nd chance!" and the "but what did she do first?" or the "it's not as bad as (insert other deadbeat athlete)" or my personal favorite, "He wasn't even charged!" Just own that winning games is priority #1 to you and that you don't really care how they get there. I won't agree with you, but I'll at least respect your honesty.

Go read the comments on like the last four or five @Browns tweets if you want to gouge your eyes out.

I am also curious about the timing.

We can debate all we want about what an appropriate punishment is. But why sign him now? Were other teams on the verge of signing him? Why not wait and see if he can stay trouble free longer than 3 months before you sign him?

Even if you think this is a great move, why do it now?

Clearly Hunt's behavior on that night was despicable and I see absolutely nobody defending or even rationalizing that behavior.

The question becomes, has he recognized how serious this problem is, has he truly seen the light, will he do everything necessary to ensure he never again repeats this type of behavior for as long as he lives?

Or is he just going to do what he needs to do to get out of the doghouse, then go on being the same asshole?

Only time will tell. The big disagreement seems to be over how severe his punishment should be. By the time the league suspends him for 6 or so games he'll have missed out on a year's worth of prime wages. He has had his viability as a player in the NFL put into serious doubt.

He got cut from KC for lying to the organization. I assume this happened before the video came out, when he still thought it would pass without being on the radar. Since both Hunt and the girl were staggering drunk it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't even remember what happened the next morning.

I believe in second chances and in redemption, as long as the kid's heart is in the right place but that's an unknown until his actions over an extended duration of time prove who he really is.

I think Dorsey thinks he knows Hunt well enough to think he'll do all the right things, and perhaps Hunt will owe a debt of gratitude to Dorsey for helping him rehabilitate his career. I assume Hunt will get a 6 game suspension, give or take. Dorsey has been riding a wave of positive PR lately and he probably figured he could spend some of that capital. His job is talent acquisition and he's doing just that.
