Welcome Marquese Chriss

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't understand why Chriss was even thrown out of the game last night. Makes no sense, he didn't do anything.

The have a 0 tolerance policy and he swung on Ibaka, but only after Ibaka's hands were clamped around his neck

I have looked several times, not sure he really threw a punch though, all joking aside I would appeal if I was Chriss, he was trying to get away from him, none of his arm swings were really punches, they were arm flails from being chocked, pushed and punched by an extremely strong man in Ibaka. Ibaka is probably one of the 5 strongest guys in the NBA.

I mean its Chriss, I could care less about the loss, but if he gets suspended for a game on that, then once a punch is thrown your only recourse is to take and get knocked out.

I get it. Personally I thought he threw the first "punch". His hand shot with a closed fist right by Ibaka's chin. If it wasn't a punch? Didn't look like a flail.

Maybe I got a bad angle, if it was a punch, yeah 1 game. 3 game seems light to me for a literal chock hold honestly, but I like Toronto and we have no need to win games, so I am not mad, but 5-7 games seems more appropriate, he went after Chriss hard.

Grabbing someone by the throat seems more hostile than punching them to me. Like you have really lost control. The point of choking someone is to cut off their air/blood supply so they die.

NBA doesn't want any player throwing a punch even if it's self defense...which IMO is stupid.
Any of us who have played and either got in a fight or came close to it is not going to let someone attack you and you just stand there ,cringe and take the blows.

But we're talking about a 6 foot 10, 250 pound grown man throwing the punch instead of your typical 6 footer. They could kill a man doing so, just like Kermit Washington almost did to Rudy Tomjanovich in 1977.

Either way, he's just not a smart basketball player (and probably not smart a person either). He could find himself out of the league in a year or two if he doesn't shape up. It's worse than Drew Gooden at the same age (and that was bad enough).

He might not find a job after this season. I seriously doubt the Cavaliers will want him back.

His body language is no like Wiggins. Has that no motor hands hanging at his sides thing.

It's probably for the best that Chriss has fall off so hard from his good start with the team. With the current roster construction, Chriss didn't fill an area of need. Making a hard choice to keep Chriss in the off-season was probably going to lead to another hard choice with the roster.

Assuming we keep Nwaba, letting Chriss walk will give us 2 roster spots to work with. That should put Koby in a better position with trades and attracting free agents to round out the roster.

10 Points, 10 Rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists in 20 minutes is a nice night for a guy off the bench.
