Re: Welcome Mike Miller

whats great about miller and jones here is that they bring more leader ship to this young team. Them and lebron all know what it takes to win, how to practice, when to show up for games and what not.

how great is it that we are finally signing some vets

Strong vet leadership was something missing from the start of the rebuild with this team.

In fact, had we added the right kind of vets from the start(or simply last offseason), we would have had a much better year last year.

But LeBron is about as good as it gets from the young player development angle so I'd expect guys like Dion, Kyrie, etc to really have big years especially with Miller, Jones, and likely Allen in the locker room.

Re: Welcome Mike Miller

He played every game too this past year that's amazing really

Re: Welcome Mike Miller

It's not only that he's recruiting, other guys know he's staying for a long time, the uncertainty was a killer last time.

Re: Welcome Mike Miller

I love the blend of youth and vets on this roster right now. Perfect blend.

It's actually pretty imblanced. We have a lot of REALLY young guys (23 or younger) and a lot of REALLY old guys. (33 or older). We have very few players that are in that mid-20s sweet spot. Essentially only LeBron and Love would qualify.

I dunno I like the old guy, young guy model...

2014 Spurs: Duncan, Ginobli, Parker + Leonard
2010 Lakers: Kobe, Gasol, Artest + Bynum

Or a team like the 1997 Bulls who really didn't have any young impact players...

I don't think its a must to have anyone in the mid-20s sweet spot...

Re: Welcome Mike Miller

Any ideas on why neither the Miller or the Jones signings are official yet?

It's called the cap space rodeo. Because Miller is the floor MLE and Jones is vet min, you wait to sign them until you've finished all your moves aka Kevin love trade

I'm not sure that's the case now. With the Utah trade and Wiggins/Harris signings, the Cavs are now over the cap, so I don't think there is a reason they can't sign Miller and Jones, since all the trade exception rules for teams over the cap now apply. Maybe there is some obscure cap-related reason they haven't signed, but I don't know what it would be.

It could just be as simple as that the Cavs want to have te option to go back under the cap until "the big trade" happens. That would be harder to do if Mike Miller and James Jomes were signed. Cavs could still get a bunch of cap space by waiving non-guaranteed contracts and buying out Varejao.

Re: Welcome Mike Miller

If our expecting to bring in 15 million plus in salary you want to make sure you dont hit that tax level after trade because it changes the structure of the trade. esoecuakky f the cavs end up trading guys out for bigger contracts. plus there might be sign and trade scenarios for miller that allow the cavs to not use their mle
