Miller hasn't found his rhythm yet. But I'm not worried by any means.
It's preseason. He will be fine.

I really haven't watched much of Miller, except the occasional playoff appearance, so perhaps someone could answer this for me: Does he appear out of shape or is his hunched over, kind of belly-out look just his normal posture? May seem like a stupid question but to me, it appears he isn't in game shape but i also plead ignorance here on not knowing if that is just how he looks all the time ...

Mike is going to take a while to get going. One of his main strengths after his shooting (which is off at the moment) is his passing. Transitioning to a new system takes a while to find the flow. I bet if he played more with Love, he would feed the post. I think there will bequite a few games that marion takes a fair few of his minutes due to his defense, but just like in miami you can throw him out there and he can #letitfly

David Blatt to evaluate 'a couple' guys in preseason finale versus Memphis Grizzlies; breaks down Mike Miller's shooting funk

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Cavaliers (5-1) have one more game left on their exhibition schedule and it will be another chance for the team to build continuity and chemistry.

Tonight's finale against the Memphis Grizzlies (2-4) will be about getting some much-needed work done without their best player, LeBron James, in the lineup.

Some players will have their workload increased because of his absence, but head coach David Blatt also wants to make sure his guys come out healthy.

"Obviously with LeBron not playing, it's going to look different in terms of how we're going to work the rotations, and honestly this being the last preparation game, we do want to be conscientious but also careful," Blatt said at this morning's shootaround. "We want to come out of here in one piece."

Blatt said he'll play this evening's game similar to that of a regular-season affair with the exception of evaluating "a couple" of guys on the fringe of making the roster.

Point guard A.J. Price and rookie center Alex Kirk are two notable candidates for a roster spot. This very well could be their last game in a Cavaliers uniform, and Blatt wants to make sure they get a thorough evaluation before a final decision is made.

"We're going to see how the game develops, but I would like to see these guys get on the floor a little bit," Blatt said.

Sharpshooter Mike Miller is expected to see the floor tonight, but he has been in a shooting funk this preseason. He is shooting 26 percent from the field and is 2-of-13 from long distance. Miller is a career 40 percent 3-point shooter.

Blatt says he believes Miller's preseason numbers are a byproduct of the players he has shared time with.

"I just think that we didn't have a lot of opportunities to put Mike on the floor with the kind of lineups that are good for him," said Blatt. "That will be something we'll be thinking about between now and the time the season starts, because he has a lot to offer us. I think it's on us to sort of find the combinations that will allow him to play in his normal fashion."

Blatt didn't appear overly worried with Miller's play. Shooters always tend to find their rhythm. However, it would be nice if Miller found his shooting stroke tonight against his old team.

It's going to be up to Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and Dion Waiters to set their floor-spacer up. He's going to need them if he is to break out of this rut before the regular season rolls around.

"(For) Mike, obviously it's best for him when he's on the floor with a lot of the creative players so he can spot up and do what he does best," Blatt said.

Of all the things I'm worried about, Miller isn't one of them. He's a shooter, and shooters shoot. He won't be asked to do much more, or play a ton of minutes.
As the article mentioned, once the rotations are set, he (and Love) will find a rhythm.

Right now it's way to early to judge, but I've been a little concerned about Miller's preseason performance. But it is just preseason, right? I won't say the signing is bust unless he completely falls out of the rotation by thanksgiving.

Here are some excepts from the fear the sword preview on Mike Miller:

http://www.fearthesword.com/2014/10/23/7000791/2014-player-preview-mike-miller

..... It's well known that Miller is a solid three-point shooter; he's a career 40.9 percent shooter from the outside, and shot 45.9 percent from three for the Memphis Grizzlies last year. ..... It's also well-known that Miller's had injury issues over the last few years. Even though he played all 82 games for the Grizzlies in 2013-2014, while as a member of the Miami Heat, Miller frequently had to get regular season rest, due to injuries to his thumb, knee, groin, and back.
......
Miller has somewhat struggled to shoot the ball consistently through the first five preseason games. Miller is going to have to do more on the court than simply spot up and take threes, and that's what could keep Miller on the floor, even if his shot isn't falling.
......
Perhaps Miller's most underrated strength is his ability to finish at the rim, especially off cuts and drives.
......
Defensively, Miller has been solid in the past. He has had decent quickness and the size to be able to serve as a competent wing defender, and did so on those Miami championship teams quite nicely. However, he's bound to continue to decline, after he struggled to make an impact on that end for the Grizzlies last year. ...... Miller looked a step slower, and noticeably seemed to conserve his energy for offense last season. .... Miller instead, ideally, needs to be with a rim protector and versatile pieces that can allow the Cavs to efficiently hide him against a variety of lineups.
......
The final piece of Miller's game that could be very important to watch this season is his rebounding. Miller has been a strong defensive rebounder throughout his career, but his numbers fell off the map last year, as he ended a streak of five years with a defensive rebounding rate over 16, sliding to 12.3 .....

If I was Mike Miler, I would not be happy at all. No one is even LOOKING to get him the ball when he gets to his spots, to at least get some shot attempts up. As a result Blatt ends up not playing him much.

Our big 3 pretty much ignores anyone playing SG. He played the last 8 mins and I can't remember him touching the ball once. Dion only gets the ball because he demands, begs and/or comes for it. Still, Dion only got 4 shots. Other than our big 3, going to be hard for anyone else to find their rhythm given random rotation and limited touches.

I'm not sure if Mike Miller has anything left in the tank boys. His movement on the court is...really, really slow.

Is this where the wheels fall off for Miller?

Cleveland, where shooters lose their touch. Seriously though, when is this guy going to drain a 3?

At the very least, his notoriety/reputation as a shooter will force teams to cover him regardless of his teammates on the court. And if he can finally catch on (first 3 made of the season on Friday), it will be a bonus.

But really, think back to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2007. Mike Miller is a lot like Donyell Marshall. He can still spread the floor, giving room to our real threats, and it's because of the perceived threat.

He probably just needs just a few more to get going, I believe he will show up in crucial moments. He couldnt possibly just lost his shooting touch.

The entire offense has been nothing but awkwardness and players trying to figure each other out. Unfortunately, it's led to Mike Miller being an afterthought. Nobody is hitting him in the stride of the offense. LeBron went out of his way to pass him the ball on multiple possessions to get him going but he's used to being the guy camping out and watching the offense develop which he uses to set up his shot.

I think the force feeds to him throw him off as a shooter and once Love, Kyrie, and Bron figure themselves out Mike Miller will feel much more comfortable getting into some sort of rhythm.

He's a knockdown shooter and that won't change until he retires.
