Welcome Shawn Marion #31

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here is a guy who has played the majority of his career and certainly his prime at power forward. I can't be the only one that finds it hilarious that at age 36, he has slid down to shooting guard.
This makes me very happy that it even works. This is LeBron being that good or Marion being that smart. I love it Marion at the two has be be A match up nightmare.

It's an insane luxury to have shooters a good as Kyrie, LeBron, and Love enabling Marion to start at SG. If the shooting from the SF and PF position wasn't so good, you could never get away with it.

The Matrix!

Shawn Marion finding his role –
The Cavs added Marion in the off-season, hoping he would be a stable backup to James and a key piece of the second unit. It didn't take long for that role to change.

Marion was placed into the starting lineup following the third game and while his numbers won't blow anyone away, his impact has gone beyond the box score. The team is 4-1 since Marion took Waiters' spot with the starters and the only game the Cavs lost was on the road to Utah when Gordon Hayward hit the game-winning buzzer beater.

"Shawn has taken to it and the team has taken to it," Blatt said about Marion being a starter. "I really thought Shawn did a fabulous job tonight. He held maybe the best three-point shooter in the NBA to no shots. He didn't get any shots. That had a big effect on the game."

Blatt was referring to sharpshooter Kyle Korver, who the Cavs' were trying to eliminate from the beginning of the game. Korver began the night leading the league in 3-pointers (30).

Marion has now received at least 24 minutes in each of the last five games. He had his highest scoring output of the season on Saturday, dropping in 11 points on 5-of-7 from the floor. His versatility and ability to defend multiple positions has been an asset for Blatt.

Found out today that he hates it here in Cleveland.

Thanks for the detailed info and context.

Is there more to add?

The guy is playing w a whole new set of teammates, with a new coaching staff, and city to boot. He just in the last 5 games has truly began to figure out his role and his minutes and production have gone up. He's also used to playing on great veteran clubs. This might be just a one year stop but he's a pro, will love winning, and is probably a while lot more comfortable w things than he was 10 days ago.

The way I read it was that he hates the city of Cleveland.

So this was something you read online? Or something that was passed along to you by someone who knows Shawn. Or from someone who has legit Cavs or NBA connections?

Not trying to be harsh about it but just curious why you've made these two posts, each just one sentence long and not offered up any context of his feeling or where the info came from, etc.

Only problem with Marion coming off the bench. He is half the player without LeBron on the court with him

Marion has literally played his entire career up to this point without LeBron and has been a fantastic player.

What he did in the past has nothing to do with the here and now. Don't expect Marion to nearly as good without LeBron.

I disagree, Marion isn't a guy that needs to get open shots to be effective. He goes out there and rebounds, plays defense, and will occasionally get a bucket here and there. His game is not predicated on the presence of LeBron James. He is a pretty unique and versatile player, even at his advanced age.

I'm pretty certain the original plan wasn't to bring him in here to start at shooting guard.
