Small forward is not a priority. Everyone just assumes LeBron with another wing player, will mean more rest and less playing time.

More depth in general, not at LeBron's position, will mean more rest and less minutes. We have the best depth at his position, compared to anywhere else on the roster anyways. And guess what? He still had to play a lot.

We end up playing him more when the depth in general was weak, and teams went on runs, then up LeBron was off the bench, and back into the game.

Shump and JR are both capable of playing minutes at his position.

The best way to limit LeBron's minutes, is have a deeper and more well-balanced team.

The better our depth is all around, the less we have to use LeBron more than we like to.

LBJ will just play PG most of the time no matter who we have. So, does it really matter who we have?

Well, I think the idea is to preserve Lebron's energy instead of making him do everything on every play of every game.

I think we should target Jeremy Lin. If we can get him for 3 mill, I think that's great. He can create, loves to play PNR and a decent 3 point shooter with average defense but also a turnover machine. Problem is, don't think I could deal with his rabid fanbase.

3\3 of our season injured players are our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best playmakers. We won't win anything if these guys aren't healthy next year.

Back-up SF I think is easily the biggest need between the two. Right now we have no reliable length on the perimeter off the bench. James Jones doesn't count.

I think it depends on the options. We need good players. If the options are similar, then a wing is more important, but if one option is far better than the other, we take that one and don't look back.

We need a guy that can either guard the 2/3 or the 3/4 and ideally isn't a disaster on offense. If we get a backup SF that cant really guard multiple positions, then at least hope he can shoot. JJ and Miller were both kind of the opposite of this, could shoot, couldnt guard anything. A 3rd PG would be my next priority after that spot just because between Delly and Kyrie, we've got the PG minutes set assuming we're healthy.

I would have liked to get Batum with the contract as he would provide some flexibility between the SG and SF positions.

Ideally, I'd like to see a PG brought in that works well with Kevin Love. I think part of our rotations should include feeding Kevin Love when Lebron and or Kyrie is off the floor. If we have a back up PG that can control the game and make sure Love gets the ball we should be able to rest our stars more. Not to mention we'd get Kevin some more scoring opportunities, hopefully in the post and at the elbow. The three together will become more familiar and play together better but I really think we missed the boat in getting Kevin the ball when Kyrie and/Lebron were off the court.

Judging by the fact that Portland got back a top 10 draft pick from last years draft and a 10+ PPG scorer on a team friendly deal for Batum, a simple salary dump wasn't going to get it done.

Friendly reminder to all of those who keep pitching players or ideas for the contract, it takes 2 teams to make a trade happen, and I'm willing to bet most front offices aren't looking to give us more talented pieces for what is, to us, virtually nothing.

I kind of feel like Shump will assume quite a few backup SF duties.

I just have a weird feeling we add a starting wing next to Irving with Haywood and an asset and JR ends up elsewhere.

Griffin's comments also suggest "If it makes sense with JR." Kind of feels like JR might be Plan B. Plan A is to be determined.

With the Hornets acquiring Hawes and Kaminsky this offseason and Zeller the long-term future at PF, I think they could look to deal Williams. He'd be a great fit as LeBron's back-up and a guy that can play the 3/4. If we get another team involved who wants to clear space and needs to dump a perimeter player, perhaps we can grab a guy like Williams.

Marvin is in the last year of his contact. I don't really see him as a guy that Charlotte brings back beyond this season, so it would make sense for them to get something for him now, whether it's additional cap space or a player(s). Williams would add a lot of versatility to what the Cavs could do offensively and defensively. I'd love to see a lineup of Kyrie, LeBron, Williams, Love, and Thompson at various points throughout the game. Not sure how you could remotely stop that lineup in transition.

I think we will easily find a vet minimum or MLE guy for backup point guard/SG. There seems to be a glut of talent there. Plus we have Kyrie who if healthy will play a lot of minutes, and then hopefully Delly who can play as little or as much as is needed to back him up. Due to the disappointment of our lack of playmaking in the finals im sure we bring in a 3rd guy on the cheap, say Mo Williams or Beno Udrih or someone of that nature.

SF seems to be more scarce from what I've seen, especially if you want a guy who can play SF and also hit the 3 consistently. That to me is probably where we will end up having to use the Haywood contract if we want someone who isn't real old like Caron Butler.

I'm not sure if it would/should be a bigger SF who can play SF and PF (stretch 4) or if we would go for a smaller guy who can play SG/SF.

This ultimately depends on what we do with JR. As you said, we likely use the mini Mid on a PG. If JR gets resigned, then at G we have Kyrie, Shump, Smith, Delly, and our FA signing. Pretty set there.

We do have Love, TT, Moz, and AV on the team assuming all are back. However, we can't really count on AV at this point based on his age and injury history. Having a guy that can play the 3 and the 4 could be really advantageous in terms of flexibility in rotations. We'd essentially be replacing James Jones with Marvin Williams. Huge upgrade.

Williams has improved from 3, shooting a combined 36% over the past four seasons. One would imagine that number would only go up in Cleveland where he'd benefit from being an afterthought when it comes to opposing defenses.

I guess I should have said also that I don't think that JR will be back necessarily. Seems like 50/50 at best , especially if he's looking for a multiyear deal where he's making like 7 or 8 mil a year. If we can get some vet minimum guys fishing for a title and then maybe a decent SF in the haywood contract deal, then JR would probably be expendable. JR has value but I just don't know if Griffin will pull the trigger on that dollar amount for someone so unpredictable.

Man...Marvin Williams? Yikes, we're scrapping the bottom of the barrel here. I have a lot more faith in the front office than landing Marvin Williams with Haywood's deal. Marvin Williams isn't a talent worth the extra millions in tax dollars we would be spending if we do in fact use the contract to acquire a player.
