If not Vick, I'd love to try and get Kirk Cousins from Washington.

Yeah lets trade for some guy who has played well in one game and has barely any playing experience. Matt Flynn, Kevin Kolb and Matt Cassell all turned out to be really really good.

Not to mention Cousins would never fit in Kelly's offense.

I think if we don't get Alex Smith, we are stuck with Weeden and Colt until we can draft a qb in the 2014 draft. Hopefully we can land Teddy Bridgewater but i'm not gonna get my hopes up.

So in your scenario we can't/don't want to get Vick either?

An old, injury prone QB who runs too much. No thanks. I would rather wait a year and get the QB of our future,

How about both?

I would prefer the Browns don't waste money on some guy who isn't going to be in their future plans but that's just me. If we somehow do get Vick it would be nice to have some more veteran leadership for this young team.

Bigmar, I truly don't get your obsession with Vick. He isn't that good. Never was really. Not to say that Weeden is any guarantee. But, I'd like to see what he does in an offense where they actually allow their QB's to audible. You know, that new fangled thing that modern day offenses utilize. That Weeden actually strived at in college. He played in an offense in college where adjusting the play is integral to their offense and Shurmer doesn't even consider it an option. Must have been too modern a concept for Pat. :chuckles:

That's why I think Smith or Vick are ideal. They've been in the league....they are pro-bowlers (I think Smith was a probowler).

Smith is 4.5 or so years younger than Vick (and about a year younger than Weeden) so I think Smith could be the NOW and the FUTURE.

I think Vick would be a dynamic fit for this team....but would he be that much better than Smith? I'm not sure.

If you pick up Vick, you're not going to sign him for more than 2 or 3 years...which means you need to groom his predecessor now (draft?).

He is good, and he is much better than Weeden.

He's really not much, if at all, better than anyone these days.

Quite frankly, he's been horrible.

I prefer older to dumb-as-rocks. Thank you.

He has also been on parole (no longer), his playmakers have been decimated by injuries (mccoy, jackson, etc) and his offensive line was terrible (ours is a strength according to Browns).

What other options, for 2013, are better than Vick or Smith? Vince Young? Who? I don't see how those 2 guys aren't 1.a and 1.b.

I want him so bad. Don't think we'll be in a position to take him though.

Ya I'm a big Bridgewater fan and I think he's going to be a stud. The way he throws the football and lays it where only his receiver can get it is just a thing of beauty. What's scary is he's only a sophmore so there's no telling how good he can become next year.

As little support I have for Weeden, I think your 1a and b options are actually worse.

I understand Vick's OLine is terrible, but his decision making has been inexcusable.

Most of his playmakers were on the field while he was making them, and didn't get injured until after Vick was injured and subsequently benched.

Vince Young even being in the discussion is laughable.

Face the writing on the wall....Weeden is gone. McCoy is likely staying? but will not be the starter.
