Andrew Hawkins could become a better version of Lance Moore. If healthy.

I played ball with both of them. Both amazing at route running, dependable hands, and quickness.

We still need a deep threat option at receiver to get the most out of Hawk.

That is what we are all hoping for in Charles Johnson. Dude ran a 4.38 and is 6'2. If he is actually healthy and can stop, cut, sprint, turn etc...this guy can be our fill in Gordon for a year.

EDIT: Now before I get slammed by anyone, I am not saying he is going to fill his shoes, statistically. I am just saying, if he shows promise and you never know, 1st game burns the Steelers for a 60yd bomb, or even in pre-season games, teams will take notice.

Health is going to be the biggest factor here.

Austin, Johnson, and Benjamin have all had recent injuries.

I still think we add some kind of vet after camp cuts.

In all honesty, can't they just fucking tell us what Gordon's suspension is? This is getting absurd.

With Gordon out, could the Browns have one of the worst wide receiver corps in the history of the NFL? Our top WR is a slot guy receiver.

Tom Brady's top receiver is generally his slot guy (Welker, Edelman). Everyone keeps comparing Brady and Hoyer, so... why not, I guess. Hawkins should be a huge beneficiary of Hoyer's quick passing since Hawkins can get open just as quick as Hoyer can get it out. I'm stoked for that combo and it should help open things up elsewhere on the field.

And think if Gordon is only suspended 4, 8 games. When he comes back and hopefully Austin continues to show up like he is in training camp, and hopefully Johnson can turn it up and be the burner we need him to be, our WR core can actually be pretty scary to defend. We would have a top 3 WR in the league, a slasher/speed guy in Hawkins, a hopefully consistent-old self Austin, maybe giving Benjamin a chance since Gilbert is taking over at returner (most likely), a tall speedy deep guy in Johnson, a vet presence in Burleson and the jolly white giant in Cameron.

Then with Gray and Dray (I like that, Dray & Gray™) as our blockers for our 3 headed monster (hopefully) at RB, our offense might be able to put up 17pts a game!!!! :chuckles:

I know this post is a homer as hell post, but we really do have a shot at something special if everything falls into place. Hey, it worked for the Cavs, why not the Brownies?

Not the first time I've seen this guy's name pop up.

He's someone to watch out for when the games start.

Isn't that kind of a back-handed compliment? Since it implies he is going to still be cut anyway?

When Gordon comes back it just becomes a waiting game until his next failed drug test. Still not sure why fans are not acknowledging this. He hasn't changed anything since being drafted and certainly not since this situation hit. Sow hy are fans so worried about how the long the suspension is when he has shown that he will not/cannot curb his behavior? All a moot point in the end.

I really didn't see anyone who impressed me yesterday as a receiver. The McDaniels kid looked good to me, but he was also facing the last string while taking passes from Taylor Thigpen, so not sure what that means.

I dunno... he seemed to have a few drops if I recall. He might be good hands in practice, but if it doesn't translate to the games.... adios baby!

In all honesty, can't they just fucking tell us what Gordon's suspension is? This is getting absurd.

Absent a settlement, a decision doesn't get announced until the hearing officer/arbitrator actually sits down and writes his decision -- he doesn't just tell people how he is going to rule and then write it out later.

Regardless of how he rules, he's going to want that decision to be well-supported, and he'll address every argument raised by both sides at that hearing.
It may well be quite lengthy, with various exhibits, etc..., and that can take quite a bit of time.

I have to say there really weren't any winners in the first preseason game... even Gordon dropped a touchdown. I do think Charles Johnson looked fantastic in his few opportunities. That bubble screen he caught from Manziel showed his potential with YAC, setting up blockers beautifully. His seam route with Manziel went smoothly and unlike other receivers, he managed to not drop it. I'd like to see him run a longer route, but I'm intrigued.

If I'm not mistaken, his drop rate in college was super low.

Snead didn't do much to stand out in the preseason game. His first target was caught but he didn't get his feet down in bounds. According to Wilcox, that was really Manziel's error for getting rid of the ball late. The blatant drop in the third quarter really had no excuse.
