Windhorst Radio Show & Updates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Pretty sure when Andersn broke his wrist, the reason his season ended was due to a blood clot in his lungs. Dangerous and scary stuff. Hope Bosh is able to resume his career!

I'm sorry, but him thinking Miami could have contended for the fifth seed is just flat out stupid.

Assuming Windhorst believes Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, and Cleveland are locked in the top four spots, could you honestly say the Miami Heat with a starting five of Dragic, Wade, Deng, Bosh, and Whiteside couldn't contend with Washington, Milwaukee, and Charlotte for the fifth spot?

I don't think it's stupid.

You forgot Washington. Miami is 9.5 games out of 5th place with 30 games left.

You don't think it's stupid to think they can make up that ground because they added ONE player and have no bench? It's yet another example of his poor basketball mind and logical reasoning abilities.

Just to play devil's advocate here, I don't think it's entirely impossible if both teams start trending in opposite directions in those final 30 games. Hell, look at how much ground the Cavs were able to make up in a short amount of time - they went from 6th all the way up to the 3rd seed at one point and despite a bad start, are still on pace to win around 55 games or so.

Washington is slumping currently, having lost 6 of 8 I think. I don't necessarily think it's going to be the Heat anymore that overtakes them, but I'm going to be very interested to see how Milwaukee does with the addition of MCW.

It's also important to note that this was likely written before he found out that Bosh is probably going to be out for the rest of the season with blood clots in his lungs. If you were to ask him right now I think his opinion would be different.

Miami would have to go 25-5 to get the 5th seed if Washington goes .500 the rest of the way. They're currently 22-30 and added Dragic. They wouldn't go 25-5 if they added LeBron with both Bosh and Wade playing every game.

Maybe if you're saying if you start the season over again, they'd have a shot at the fifth seed with that lineup, but not with the hole they've already dug.

I did not even think they would catch the Bucks before the Bosh injury
8 games under 500 this late in the year with less then 30 left.
That is a ton to make up. Was a stupid thing to say.

Going to be interesting how Windhorst down plays the Wizards victory. He's made it painfully aware that the win streak was against the weakest schedule. Us he going to give CLE credit or say that the Wiz have been trending downward since Mid Jan?

Hey Windy --- 2.20.15

34. Cavs must not wear out their players during this tough part of the schedule.

35. LeBron should be sitting in a few of the upcoming games.

36. Cavs should not "sell out" to move up in the standings.

37. LeBron was worn down right before the all star break. Saw this in his minor injuries.

38. I'm not sure if we can get a straight answer from Kevin Love about his health.

42. People in the league roll their eyes at players needing more rest, but I think it's important.

46. "What would Pop do?" What would Gregg Popovich do in terms of resting players?

This is my big concern. There is basically nothing at stake in the rest of the season worth burning out our players for. It is worth taking the extra occasional loss to go into the playoffs fresh. Windhorst is absolutely right that Lebron noticeably wore down over just a month after his return. I am worried that Blatt lacks the confidence and security to fully rest his players (especially Lebron) and will get caught up in a race with Chicago for the third seed. Lebron also is not fully bought in on taking games off yet I think.

28. Cavs winning streak was mostly against a soft schedule.
I can't stand this tired talking point.

Clippers, Bulls, OKC, Portland, Clippers again.

That's 5/12 against elite teams.

We played some bottom feeders, I get that. And they drastically dragged down the opponent winning percentage of teams we played during that run.

I just wish Windy would stop fighting the urge to say we are playing great basketball.

What exactly is your basis for this statement?

The fact that LeBron is playing the lowest minutes in his career (3 full minutes lower than his career avg.)?

Yeah, I'm sorry. We signed the best player on the planet to play and play often. He plays 36 minutes a game. If he can't give me that, then he's a pussy.

Jordan was playing 37 a night over 10 years LeBron's senior.

Btw 5/12 is the ratio of contending teams in the nba/overall teams in the nba. It's a perfectly legitimate sample size

I feel Windy gets bashed now more than deserved.

5 of 12 is 40%. 60% of our wins were against bottom feeders, or most. Yes he does fail to point out the 5 victories during the streak were solid, but when you factor in 3 of those 5 were at home, most were should have won games but 15% or the 2 road victrories vs elite teams.

We are playing great ball, winning the games we should and winning some we shouldnt. But lest not beat up on Windy as our new favorite hobby for no reason.

Personally I feel Windy doesn't get bashed enough. I remember his overly negative act this summer, and then I read shit like this and I just shake my head. This guy is framed somehow as some sort of expert and really he is just a calculated troll. Like it has been stated, our schedule during that streak was perfectly representative of playoff vs non playoff teams. I personally do not respect the guy. He's no basketball analyst. He's a guy that used to have 'sauces' and now? He seems to have far fewer sauces - with the Cavs, anyway - but still positions himself as an expert.

There are lots of reasons to "beat up on Windy" - this is just the latest one.
