Windhorst Radio Show & Updates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
of course we missed JR. Every time we had our reserves in I was terrified. Remember that 16-0 Chicago run or whatever it was?

I strongly disagree with Windy re: not missing JR. Since we're also without Love, I think there was/is PLENTY of room for both Shump and JR to step it up at the same time.

72. If Shumpert and Smith can play, then Cavs can play the "4 Wings" lineup. This is Kyrie, Iman, JR, LeBron and one big man. Cavs like this lineup.

03. Chicago media has documented that Derrick Rose has 0 free throw attempts in the first two games and Kyrie has 21 (so expect refs may be influenced by this).

Anyone have any numbers on this, but it sure hasn't felt like Rose has been driving much to be even able to earn calls?

We seem to be forcing him to shoot shots, and he seems happy to go along with that. I think he's worried that if he goes in with the trees he might get hurt.

This isn't a perfect stat, but here are the numbers for 2pt FGA with the defender 0-2ft away (very close).

http://stats.nba.com/league/player/...2 Feet - Very Tight&sort=FG2A_FREQUENCY&dir=1

The main takeaway here is that Rose is getting a lot more space than Kyrie.

Rose is only taking 18.6% of his 2pt shots with a defender even within 2 feet of him, whereas Kyrie is taking twice as many at 35.6% of his 2pt shots.

(Side stat, on those closely defended shots, Rose is only shooting 22.2%. Where as Ky is hitting 40.6%)

According to NBA.com stats filtering in the first two games of the series....

60% of his attempts have been pull up jumpers. During the regular season, it was 41%.

Only 28.9% of his shots have come from less than 10 feet. During the regular season, 39.3%.

In 2 games, he's only attempted 4 FG inside 3 FT. 1 of those 4 was a breakaway layup. He's not going to the basket at all, so the Bulls can stop crying. To further underscore how unaggressive Rose has been, 15 of his 46 FG attempts (32.6 %) are from beyond 20 feet (when he's a terrible outside shooter). Many times he has gone to the basket, he has stopped short and shot a floater or off balance type hook. You're not going to draw fouls doing that.

For some comparison, Kyrie has attempted 10 FG's inside 3 feet (out of 31) and that's not even counting FT's awarded on FG attempts that don't count. That's a high number when taking in to account how many FT's he's shot. 21 FT attempts during 11 trips to the line. My guess is 7-8 of those were a result of drives (off the top of my head), which would push that inside 4 feet shot total even higher (in the 10 FG attempts inside 4 feet per game).

If Rose wants to shoot FT's he has to drive....ALOT more. My guess is he doesn't want to subject himself to the physical play that will go along with it.

Windy even says we couldn't run the 4 wing lineup without Smith.

Oh Windy.

When Windy was saying they didn't miss Smith, what I think he was getting at is that the Cavs would be happy with Smith/Shumpert playing the 2 guard and combining for Shumpert's averages of 18.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals as those were very close to their combined numbers last series. I assume his point was that from a pure statistical output they didn't miss much from their 2s.

GTFO here Windy. I use to like what you write. Not anymore. What happened to you? You simply cannot be this naive, can you?

His show tomorrow better be an hour long two handed gag reflex with spit laced blow job of Matthew Dellavedova.
