Message board poster? Fine. Paid journalist? This is embarrassing. First of all, unless he has seen video, he has no idea how it happened. So he starts with an assumption, makes another assumption about what a "normal" sprain is (with no medical training), makes another assumption based on "rushing" him to get an MRI (again with no medical training), and concludes that it is not a simple sprained ankle (again with no medical training), even though he knows Kyrie was out of the boot within a day. Now, I listened to Windy on WKNR yesterday and I can't imagine from yesterday to today he changed what he said all that much. Yesterday he said...
The Kyrie thing the way the injury was described was that Andy stepped on him... I wasn't at practice but normally when you get stepped on that results in a high ankle sprain. A normal sprain is when you turn your ankle but because he was stepped on I suspect its a high ankle sprain. Also, the way they rushed him out the door to get an MRI points to a high ankle sprain. With that being said he was out of the walking boot within a day. I think the question right now is when will he be able to play, I don't think it will be weeks and weeks but its not as minor as a simple sprained ankle.

Obviously Kyrie shouldn't be rushed, especially because the games don't matter...but I still think if he can play, he should be out there on the floor.it does not matter. I see no reason to rush kyrie out on the floor. We are getting minutes looking at the other components, like Dion, who will get minutes in regular season, or like Price and Harris, who will not.

If Kyrie is gonna be tasked with orchestrating the offense, more than any other player he needs to be out there getting as much chemistry with his teammates and Blatt's system as much as possible. Kyrie, LeBron and Love have yet to all share the floor together playing against NBA-caliber competition. That's concerning.
It would be different if this was the third or fourth year the core of this team has been together with the same coach, then I agree, there's no reason to play him. But that's not where this team is at in their development.
