Winning > Tanking... All day..

Yes, winning is a million times better than tanking. Unfortunately, it's a moot point since people who want to tank believe that tanking is the path to winning. Without a huge influx of talent, the Cavaliers will have an exciting win like this once in a while but will not go anywhere otherwise.

An exciting win like this once in a while? The last 2 games weren't exciting too?

No problem with winning some games like this. The point is you don't have a championship core. Anyone who thinks they do is being asinine.

I think we've got a few pieces in place, but obviously we've got a ways to go. You also have to remember how young this team is. Our best player is in his second year and still sucks on defense. Our second best player is a sophomore power forward who just realized he could score baskets a month ago. Our third best player is a rookie who hasn't figured out how to have two good games in a row (although to be fair, Dion's defense tonight was pretty good and he led the team in +/-, so he made a positive impact even though his shots weren't falling and every pass he made to a wide open Zeller resulted in a terrible brick).

It is, as we say, a process.

I obviously agree with all of that, but if you took this team right now and let them develop for several years without infusing any more significant talents...I would like to think you would agree with me when I say it wouldn't be a title contender. We can say that for sure. That's how I feel.

Yeah, I would absolutely agree with that. Luckily, we've got a likely good draft pick coming this summer, a potentially decent one in 2014, the possibility of a LeBron return, tons of cap space, and a shitload of assets to use in potential trades.

We would have the worst record without the last 3 wins. Give me a top 3 pick over these meaningless wins. And for those who say "these wins build confidence", wouldn't these same wins build just as much confidence next year when we need to start winning? While it's exciting for about 10 minutes, this is not a good thing.

we lose all 3 games if Kyrie isn't clutch. How would that be better than what we have in him?

If this was last season or the year before, I'd agree with you that I don't like too many wins. But there is no Jamison getting hot leading us to victory, there's no guys we know have no long term potential here leading us to victory.

The main reason we're winning is obviously Kyrie, but Dion & Tristan are right up there as well. My point is, these are guys we're expecting to have leading us to victories in the long term leading us to victories now

Obviously, nobody's saying we're close to championship level or even close to anything of the sort. And obviously, we're still a long ways away & still need more talent. However, I think what's crazy is people harping on this "tanking" when we have exciting basketball again. I have no problems winning as many games as we can, so long as Kyrie, Dion, Tristan, and all the guys we're expecting to keep long term, are leading us to those victories.

How does cheering for a few more wins this season equate to "...without infusing any more significant talents"? We'll still have our draft pick, a plethora of other current and future draft picks, and enormous flexibility with our cap space the next few years. This team is loaded with assets to individually, or in combination, infuse much more significant talent to this team for years.

If the Cavs finish out the season leapfrogging a number of teams in the standings, yes come lottery time I'll be a bit nervous. But perhaps the lottery gods will be on our side and we'd still land in the top 3? Perhaps a surprising player falls to us? Maybe Chris Grant and his scouts make a great pick wherever we are (even if it's say the 5th-9th pick range; hell, we tend to not pick the guy that most mock drafts would have us pick anyway)? Or maybe we utilize 1 or 2 of our many assets to move up and grab they guy we wanted all along?

We've had to witness some rather shitty basketball for 2.5 years after a rather shitty ending to our previous era of basketball in Cleveland. Rooting for our next generation of Cavs - led by a bunch of rookies and sophomores - during a mini-winning streak is downright fun. And it's also a great sign seeing the passion, hunger, and talent in them.

If we pick at three, we're just gonna pick a player who would have ended up at eight anyway and they'll end up being the best player picked from 3-10. So we might as well pick further back.

On one hand I love the wins.. having Jamison, Sessions and even Hudson help us win games last year was a waste. Irving hitting game winning shots and TT making pays is not! just hope we dont lose out on Mclemore, Len. Noel or Muuhammad, but I love seeing the progress.

It's not just the winning, it's the way it's being done. First a come from behind win when down by 20 some points, then Kyrie hits a game winner. Players are smiling and they have seemed to figure it out. I think they may have built some confidence to know they can win games. I also think its amazing how a second year guy is putting numbers up and hitting on clutch shots the way Kyrie is. At this point don't see us trying to put Lebron here, just think he would mess it up.

Yeah, he'd blow the whole dynasty we've got set up here.

Lets say this. The team had lost a lot of games they were in a nice position to win. Thinking the team wouldnt figure it out even while they were developing individually is a lot to ask. Add 2 players that can play and the almost there cavs are there. Definitely going to need a trade to get the tank on track.

Counting last night, I'd love to see us finish playing .500 ball the rest of the way. We'd be 31-51, which obviously puts us around 10th or so in the lottery, but I can deal with it.
