Winning > Tanking... All day..

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's even worse. We've won the past 2 games partly because of two short-term potential guys (Speights and Ellington). Take them out, and we have two more losses. We CAN still do more to lose without slowing down the core's progression, and that's by trading at least Speights outta here ASAP.

I love how you act like you 100% know they aren't part of our future. Do their contracts expire at the end of this season? Yes. Can we re-sign them for the cheap? If they are worth it, absolutely.

We still have until the trade deadline to allegedly get rid of these guys. We don't need to get rid of them "ASAP". Only get rid of them for the right price, and at the right time. Not 2 games into their careers in Cleveland.

Some of you guys are completely ridiculous. Wanting to lose? Do more to lose? How the heck can you guys be "fans" of a team and root for them to lose? This board has so many people wanting the cavs to do as much as they can to lose, rather than trying to win. Completely ass backwards. You all should be ashamed.

Let the season play out. Do what you can in the draft afterwards.

"Hey we just acquired young, valuable talent, let's trade them so we can lose."

Ooooh I know I know maybe we can send Speights to our D League team so we can still keep him but he doesn't cost us losses? :chuckles:

There's no reason, that if they continue to fit in with the guys on the team and provide valuable roles, that any or all of Speights Livingston, and Ellington can not become long terms pieces, most likely as quality bench members. They're both young, both have first round pedigree, and neither will command outlandish salaries.

Why is RMSDanielGibson acting like we're getting these contributions from the likes of Casspi, Jamison, Parker, Mike James, or Daniel Gibson himself?

Not necessarily:

If we get a good player out of this draft will go from barely missing the playoffs next year / 8-7 seed to a #1 seed if LeBron joins the team in 2014. The East is that weak and depends on him that much.

we have a better chance of landing LeBron if we are a 50 win team next year than we do as a 37 win team.

I disagree. I think LeBron returning is entirely dependent on Miami. LeBron will look at our team and see a 22-year-old superstar in Kyrie Irving who hits big shots and plays his best ball in the fourth quarter. He'll see a defensive and rebounding monster in Tristan Thompson. He'll see a solid cast of young talent and a ton of assets to bring in help via trades or the draft.

Then he'll look at Miami and see if what he still has there is better. If Wade is breaking down, I think he leaves. If Wade sells his soul for basketball immortality like Kobe did, I think he stays.

I think you're pointing to a small faction of the board ... those that want to lose at all costs.

I think most people who side with the 'tank' (man, I can't wait to retire that term) feel that it's less important to win a couple of games with a 3/10 player like Ellington or Speights than a 1/10 player like Walton. In the end, neither the 3/10 or 1/10 player will be here in the long run.

There's something to be said for winning some games and the 'keepers' (KI, TT, DW, TZ) mindset. But in the longrun, I believe most people feel it behooves the Cavs to secure a top-5 pick and whatever asset you may receive for the 3/10 player that isn't here for the long haul anyways.

Bro...we beat Boston, Milwaukee, and Toronto. We ain't world beaters right now.

We were coming off a back-to-back when we played Toronto (on the road) and they weren't, and they had beaten us earlier in the season (at our place, under the reverse circumstances of back-to-backs.) It's tough to pull off huge comeback wins two nights in a row no matter who the opponents are.

Boston and Milwaukee are not great but are at least playoff-caliber teams.

All that said, no, we are not world-beaters, but everyone is seeing progress. If we go on a long losing streak or a 1-7, 2-8 type streak, look for this discussion to go to the wayside, though.

Tristan developing very nicely, Kyrie playing out of his mind, getting a steal of a trade, it seems like were in almost every game until the end, finally starting to learn how to win..... but I'd rather have the draft pick

there's one issue - fitting their salary along with the 7 first round draft picks that will be on the roster plus andy and still having over $21 million in cap space in 2014.

If you take the 4 picks we have, add two this year at about the cost of Waiters and Zeller (assume the lakers squeak into the playoffs), add a zeller range pick in 2014, keep andy, and add a $21 million free agent, the total salary for 2014-2015 is about $56 million and that doesn't include keeping Gee at 3.25 million. Better or worse draft picks can alter that number a bit. The cap should go up some, but the players percentage is declining, so it won't go up as fast as revenues. And a higher cap means higher rookie contracts and higher 11 year player max contracts.

I'm sorry, are you under the impression that if end up in the 6th or 7th slot if the lottery we forfeit our pick?

Are you under the impression that players like Paul Pierce, Dirk, pre injury Amare, pre injury Brandon Roy, Rudy Gay aren't to be found in the 6-10 range?

Or that players like Darko, Wes Johnson, Randy Foye, Thabeet, olowokandi, stroke swift, means brown, Sheldon Williams, Adam Morrison etc aren't selected with top 5 picks?

Or under the impression that lottery slots outside the top 4 often end up winning the lottery and #1 pick?(blazers in 07, bulls in 09, cavs/clips in 10)

Better odds.

Do you know what this term means

THIS WILL Not HAPPEN TOO FAR BEHIND BUT with Rondo out with an ACl tear, the 8 seed is going to be 6-8 games under 500 lol
Who is up for a run ?
Cavs Heat first round? :chuckles::chuckles:

I'm just glad to finally be able to watch legit NBA players primarily make up the rotation rather than still be subjected to the D Leaguers and rejects who shouldn't be a part of any team's rotation who we've had to watch.

Can't complain about wins being led by younger players but we all should be realistic about just how much more the Cavs need before they can come close to being considered a contender.

Anyone else think that with the right picks, we could leapfrog Philly, Detroit, Boston, Toronto, Milwaukee, Orlando, Atlanta, and maybe even Brooklyn in the standings next year. I may be getting ahead of myself, but if Kyrie continues to progress this ridiculously quickly, Dion comes around Thompson style, and we add to a finally competent bench, we could seriously make the playoffs (and not just an 8th seed, either).

2013-2014 Eastern Standings

1 Miami
2 New York
3 Indiana
4 Chicago
5 Brooklyn
6 Cleveland?
7 Boston
8 Milwaukee
----------------
9 Detroit
10 Toronto
11 Philadelphia
12 Atlanta
13 Washington
14 Charlotte
15 Orlando

Why are some acting like this team is now on the verge of making the playoffs? The Cavs are still just a game better than the worst team in the league, and they are tied for the most losses. There's room to win and still land a top-5 pick.
