Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why would Mercado get sent back down when of the three players you listed, two of them suck and one of them is unplayable against LHP. I think your take is extremely short-sighted and I'm not sure what it's supported by.

Every single reporter has said Mercado would be up for good in the near future, and here we are with him getting called up. I've read nothing that says it's only for 10 days or until Naquin comes back.

He will be playing where he can get everyday ABs, and Martin is and will be at least a platoon guy in CF and will always play against RH pitchers which is majority of the starters in the league. Naquin, Bauers and CarGo are all lefties and normally will be in the line up against RH pitchers as well, so that doesn't leave any room for Mercado to play everyday if they keep all three. Now if we cut CarGo when Naquin comes back/option Naquin down, that give Mercado an OF spot. He will get a weekish/whatever time frame Naquin is out to prove himself and if he does and CarGo isn't playing well then he will be kept up in place of him.

Luplow was brought in to be the platoon guy, Mercado they aren't going to do that with this season. They want him to keep developing his bat, and he cannot do that riding the bench most days. So it will be based on how CarGo and Mercado are doing when Naquin is back in the 1-2 weeks or whatever time frame he will be out. He has a chance to be an everyday MLB player right now, but it is up to him to take it from CarGo at the end of the day.

What's the deal with Naquin? How long will he be out?

Hamstring injury, so its one of those, seems like he may only need 10 days, but they can be tricky too, so he is out til I believe the 21ist area and can come back anytime after that depending on how he is doing. Feels like one of those minor, if it was playoff time he would be playing, but don't want to push it and make it worse type of injuries.

Edit: Sorry Calf not hamstring, but same level of injury, just cannot seem to heal 100%

From Rosenthal's latest article:

*The Indians made a run at left-hander Gio Gonzalez before he signed with the Brewers. They also were the only team to show interest in Kemp before the Reds released him on May 4, but that interest was mild.

After today, the Indians play 19 out of the next 26 games at home.

During the telecast last night, Manning noted that , at the 40 game pole, the last time
an Indian offense had scored fewer runs than 2019 was 40 years ago! He added that if
the hitting shows no signs of life after that home stretch, the team might consider a
fire sale.

Underwood said he should bite his tongue.

Trading Bauer makes sense. Aim for acquiring a haul of assets in a overpay. We won't be re-signing him anyways.

At this point, who would even part of a firesale? Frankie, Bauer, Ramirez,,,..who else. Hand maybe. We have Carlos signed for so long i doubt he would be traded. Carrasco that is. Seems a year early to even trade Frankie.

Even the games that used to be easy, im not sure they are easy anymore.

Over his last 338 ABs, Jose has now dipped under the Mendoza line, at .199.

We are 4 games back to a team that isn't deep in starting pitching. We will be fine when it counts the most.

You cant just trade our superstar, the heart of the team, with our starting pitching 3 years before his comtract is up. Ticket sales would really be in the tank then.

Edit..you meant Jose.

They don't have any top tier talent beyond Berrios, but Odorizzi and Gibson are pretty solid; Odorizzi specifically has been great recently. Martin Perez is somehow striking people out for the first time in his career. Their rotation is by no means dominant outside of Berrios, but I think it is solid
