Just have to wonder if the Cavs could have gotten a better pick elsewhere...

Or even just for sure GOTTEN a pick. Those protections make me wonder if we'll ever see compensation.

I don't like the protection on the deal at all! This was basically what I was afraid of. Tyreke and JJ bolt and we end up with a 2017 2nd round pick...

Horrible deal, but do you think the Kings won't be out of the top 10 by 2015-2017? They do have a pretty decent young group of guys.

The protection is terrible. Even if it wasn't unprotected, is it that hard to get say...top 3 protection in 2017?

The first round pick acquired from Sacramento is lottery-protected in 2012 (1-14). The pick is then protected in 2013 (1-13), 2014 (1-12) and 2015-2017 (1-10). If the pick is not conveyed by 2017, then Sacramento will convey its own 2017 second round draft pick to the Cavaliers protected (56-60).

I like Casspi's game, and I know Hickson needed to go... but DAMN, Grant got ass-raped on that pick's protection structure.

I agree that they have some nice pieces, but they got worse when they added Cousins. They're adding JJ and Jimmer, 2 good pieces, but their defense has gone from awful to revolting.

And yes, bad trade.

Well, that protection kind of sucks since we had our hopes up. But if it turns out that we get a late lotto pick from it down the road, it does not look too bad. Getting a starting SF and a No. 13-ish pick for J.J. is not too shabby.

I was trying to make this pick sound better than it was. I really hate this protection, but atleast we got something for JJ before he leaves for money.

Wow that protection is terrible. I find it hard to believe that with multiple teams interested in Hickson, that's the best we could do.
