Things that could potentially be going through Byron Scotts head:
1. Kyrie is getting tired early and often and is struggling on defense when tired.
2. Kyrie is so damn good that if he plays 35 minutes a night we will win more than we should.
3. I'm not letting this team get the 15th pick in the draft and draft some nobody and in 2 years get fired. WE TANKING!!!

lmfao

Also, team has to fly back to Cleveland after the game for another game tomorrow.

In addition, there are all the the injuries piling up around the NBA. Bad conditioning, a lot of minutes, and a lot of games tends to contribute to that.

There's a lot for Kyrie to learn this year if he can stay healthy and doesn't wear down.

You can definitely tell that Byron Scott is trying to make a statement to the young prodigy.

He isn't impressive on defense, but he can score at will.

He does turn it over quite a bit, but you have to look at who he's passing to.

All of these things will come to a minimum after some time, he's 19 years old!!!!

Scott knows what he's doing, he just isn't making the same mistakes that Mike Brown did as a coach by letting the young talent walk all over him.

Scott is hard on his players, motivates them and improves his teams. But his coaching philosophy has caused players to grow tired of him after a few years, and eventually getting him fired.

Kyrie should really be called Houdini. Some of those reverse layups he finishes are incredible (or magic, for the nickname).

Is It just me or does Jamison have something against Kyrie? a few times I watched games It Is like he avoids passing to him... On two situations I saw In the first game VS the Hea Kyrie wave for the ball and Jamison just looked at him and then passed It to weak sauce?? One time where they Ignored Kyrie he some how got the ball due to a broken pass and then some Cavs player (forgot who) got It and passed It to him he then scored It for two? For these reasons I think Jamison Is trying to ticket his way out of Town.

I haven't noticed that, but Jamison does have a history in DC of ganging up with Arenas and Hughes to intentionally shut out the other players on that team. Albeit I think we're talking guys like Kwame, Brenda, Jeffries, and Etan Thomas ... not Kyrie "Top Shot" Irving *.

Irving's current 58.2% TS% would have been tops on that Wizards team. rofl

On yet another side note, LeBron didn't top a 58.2% TS% until his 6th season in the league.

* I just coined that, so I claim full credit if it starts spreading.

Cavs dont win a championship if ircing doesnt learn good defensive habits now.

He doesnt help the team win down the road when he is playing 35 minutes a game if he doesnt know the proper spots on the floor to take a quick breather.

We dont need the point guard version of carmelo anthony.

Yea, this loss is all on Irving. You have a history now of throwing Irving under the bus but not saying a peep about his shitty teammates.

Kyrie Irving is a R O O K I E.

I don't know how many rookies come in and play exceptional defense. Christ even with all his gifts it took LeBron what 3 to 4 years to become a lockdown guy (when he wanted to be anway). Not too mention we are talking about a kid that played 11 college games and probably is going to continue to hit walls as this season progresses.

This kid has all the tools to be something special. Most importantly he wants to the ball in crunch time and he's not afraid to take the shot-- a shot which it appears he can and will make. And he has a strong work ethic along with a high basketball IQ.

As for his assist to turnovers, it's not great, but my god how often are we seeing our guys fumble passes, pass up on a shot to pass again or just botch shots. As we get better talent it's going to work itself out.

If we are into next season and he's slacking on defense and turning the ball over too much I will have some concern but come on.

Great post, Mc.

He definitely has things to improve on, but at the end of the day he has far exceeded my expectations. Thats not saying he shouldn't try to improve in other areas. But expecting him to be a good defender after missing most of the college season and having no training camp is a little much.

EXACTLY!!! There were so many dropped passes in the paint against the Heat.

Injuries got him fired in New Orleans.

I thought Kyrie played good today.

He was pretty much a non factor in the first half, it seems he was thinking too much. He woke up and had a great second half. This kid is one special player for sure... It's insane how effective he is at shooting the ball! The turnovers today weren't too bad, rookie mistakes as well as bad hands from his team mates.
His defense was definitely better. Chalmers was shut down as well as Cole (when Sessions wasnt playing at least). He didn't get burnt blown by, which was nice! Overall, it still was retty average defense, but hey, he seems to be buying what Byron tells him, so he should improve every game.

But it so weird how he seems bored out there... I hope he has that fire of wanting to be great, because he definitely has all the tools.

Scott isn't demanding that Kyrie be a great defender, he's demanding that he gives adequate focus, energy, and attention on that end of the court. Same thing Mike Brown asked of Shannon Brown and Daniel Gibson. Gibson gave the effort, and slowly but surely his D stared improving.
