2012 Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

So our best chance is to pick 5th? Damn that kinda sucks, but thank god we likely won't be picking 6th.

Feels like we've been here before on the board (like last year), but IMO the way to look at it is that our best chance is we won't pick 5th or 6th. :)

Thats one way to look at it, you can also look at is as we have a 65% chance of picking better than 5th.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

We also need to hope Thomas Robinson picks up hype going into the draft that someone takes him in the top 4. He is our safety allowing at least Beal or Drummond to fall to us if we do get 5th.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

We are going to regret picking MKG if it happens. High-level role player. Im not denying he is the consenus BPA, but he isn't going to be the game changer some think he will imo.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

My guess the Cavs board is like this:
1.Unibrow: Consensus one, has some character concerns but to much talent to pass up.
2.Brad Beal: I think the Cavs love him
3.Andre Drummond: To much raw talent and has some character concerns
4.Harrison Barnes: Bunch of talent, but he seems to float away mentally at times
5.MKG: overrated talent, but better than whats left.

I can guarantee you that the Cavs do not have MKG rated that low on their draft board as it stands.

Drafting Barnes in front of MKG would be akin to taking Brandon Weeden in the first round. I have faith that only one Cleveland franchise is that clueless.

I think it is a lot closer to this-- Cavs fans hoping for Andre Drummond are going to get disappointed one way or the other here. The Cavs are really hoping to get a wing with length and multiple tools.

1.Unibrow
2.MKG
3.Harrison Barnes
4.Bradly Beal
5.Thomas Robinson
6.Perry Jones
7.Andre Drummond

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

Yeah, I don't see Barnes going ahead of MKG. MKG might have some offensive deficiencies, but the rest of his game is stellar and he's a super hard worker and by all accounts a great guy. I can't see the Cavs passing him up if available unless they're higher on Beal or feel they have to take a shot on Drummond.

Hopefully, it's more like this:

1. Unibrow
2. MKG
3. Beal
4. Drummond
5-7. FUCK we didn't get our top 4.

I can definitely see why the Cavs would avoid Drummond, but at the same time they've sung their praises about drafting Point Guards and Centers. We have KI, and TT. If we're at 3/4 I can see us taking a swing on Drummond, but maybe that's just me projecting my hope. Even if Drummond turns out to be a DECENT center, the pick wouldn't be a waste.

I have the Cavs board at

1. Unibrow
2. MKG
3. Beal
4. Drummond
5. Barnes
6. Robinson

I would personally take Drummond over Beal, even though he's probably a more "sure thing". God I hope they don't have Barnes at 3....

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

I think MKG is going to be a beast. It's a toss-up between him and Beal. I can't wait til the lotto.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

My way of thinking of the odds:
#1 One slot - Davis :woohoo:
14%
#2 Two thru 5 slots - likely have a shot at MKG or Beal
80%
#3 6 slot - Barnes :uhh:
6%

Exactly how I look at it.

Chances at top 2 = 28%

Chances at top 3 = 43%

Chances at top 4 = 66%

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

MKG is my #2, just concerned that his one weakness (consistent jumper), will be magnified in the NBA half-court game. A risk, but his current shot shows some potential and I'm sure his individual workouts will answer some of the questions with his jumper. But even without the jumper, he is a world class athlete, world class finisher, world class energy level...that will be hard to pass up.

Re: The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery Thread

For those hoping for Drummond, like Douglar said, don't expect them to jump on him at 3 or 4.

But, the Cavs have some bullets to fire, especially with so many high-ish draft picks this year (4 in the top 34), and Portland has said its willing to move their pick for the right price. As long as NJ doesn't win a top 3 spot, we could target the Portland pick at 5 or 6 while keeping ours. Might be a longish shot, but not unrealistic to see the Cavs try and make a move to have 2 top 10 picks.
