Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we had varejao and were competing for the play offs I think Scott would have lost patience with speights and zeller and would be riding Thompson and varejao hard while going small with Walton to spread the floor like he has been. It may not be good for Thompson but the team would of been better off.

You did look at the table, right?

I post this only for observation reasons, not to knock Varejao. Just showing how much this team has grown.

The Cavs are 16-21 without Andy. 5-21 when he was starting. Cavs are basically a few very late blown leads away from being a .500 team without their best big playing.

This has me thinking how good can we be next season with everyone healthy and the new and improved bench?

Holy shit Nene's name is Maybyner Rodney? what the fuck :chuckles:

Anybody know anything more about this?

CBB.com.br: @VAREJAOANDERSON asks to be excused from Brazilian National Team for WCoB qualifier in Caracas, in order to rehab.

Mike Brown was interviewed during the summer league game last night. The Cavs have apparently sent a trainer down to Brazil to work with Andy. Didn't sound like a new injury. Seems the Cavs are just trying to get him back into basketball shape after missing so much of last season. As injury prone as Andy has been it's probably a good thing he skips playing for his national team this summer.

If chrome's translate thing is working properly, the article implies that this is related to the quadriceps injury and subsequent pulmonary embolism he suffered with the Cavs. It says (again, this is probably a lousy translation) "Currently, Anderson is physiotherapy sessions, muscle strengthening and physical conditioning, light workouts without impact."

Re: Bynum Presser

I agree with a lot of your predictions. While I'd love to see one of either Bynum and Varejao on the floor at all times for defensive reasons, they seem like a great match offensively on the floor together. Bynum is not a great pick and pop/ pick and roll option. He sets great picks, but is better at settling into soft spots in the mid or low post after the pick. Varejao and Irving have an explosive rapport in the pick and roll. I could see Bynum setting down picks for swing men coming off curls while Varejao plays his two man game with Kyrie.

All of that depends on health. I'd prefer for Bynum and Varejao to take some time to rest throughout the season, giving Zeller more run on those breaks. Mike Brown had a bad habit of running his horses into the ground both in Cleveland and L.A.

And for those obsessed with floor spacing and potentially concerned with an Andy-Bynum pairing, remember that in his limited run last season, Andy showed a respectable jumper: shooting 41.0% from 16-23 feet on 2.7 attempts per game (which is identical to 2008 Tim Duncan in both percentage and attempts and better than Kevin Love has ever shot from that distance).

Re: Bynum Presser

Everyone should be obsessed with floor spacing.

And Bynum also has a decent jumper with way more consistent mechanics than Andy.
He does?

I'm not gonna say I know for sure because I don't follow the Lakers, but Andy has really improved his <15 foot jumper the last couple years and its become a fairly reliable scoring option.

Andy has improved his 10-16 feet shot incredibly. He is also more comfortable taking the shot. look for teams to try to keep Andy from getting the ball in the high post. Andy will aslo give Bynum more outside shot oppurtunites than what he had or was allowed with the Lakers.
