Brandon Weeden: GTFO!!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

See, no. Many teams use quick hitters. Typically you do it as a change up, on good teams, and in the past we've just used it all the time making it predictable.

I'm still not sold on Weeden at all but the offense overall looked better than it did for years (not that, that is saying much) and they actually put some in which was nice to see.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Anybody that looks at his stats and try to use that as a positive is really reaching...

Who has done this?

I don't remember one person, honestly. Everyone is saying how much more comfortable, calm, and collected he was in the pocket. Yes, the results were good stats, but I don't think anyone has used the stats to say that he had a good game.

He had a good game because he made mostly good throws; he didn't panic in the pocket; he was accurate as hell, and he moved the chains consistently.

In (or more accurately... out) before Pyro nuts all over this thread over that Queen post.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

This year will prove if Weeden is Derrick Anderson 2.0 or Tim Couch 2.0. I'm pullin' for him and Tim Couch 2.0.

The fuck are you talking about

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Everyone needs to remember that there was no game plan for this game. The offense that was run had pretty basic West Coast formations with very little shotgun. The Browns are not going to show their hand offensively or defensively within the first preseason game. As long as we are showing coherence and production from these simple plays/packages - i believe we will be alright.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Only issue ive ever had with Weeden is just his time to develop is so much shorter compared to other players, due to his age its one of the main reasons i hated the pick. Because unless you know hes gonna come in and be a bonafide star (which he hasnt yet) then when he does finally develop into a decent NFL QB your going to be looking for his replacement...

He doesn't have the football wear and tear that a 22 year old rookie will have at age thirty. He could easily get to age 36 and 37 with a good health.

The Browns have been looking for replacement quarterbacks every year for over a decade. Weeden looks like he will develop nicely, something the Browns haven't been able to say in a long fucking time. Let's let him develop before we put an expiration date on him.

Agreed. It's in Browns' fan's nature to keep looking forward at the next best thing. At least Weeden's tangibles don't make you feel like his throws will be fluttering in the wind and he's tall. I mean, he looked pretty darn good at times last year. He's in his 2nd year in the NFL, lets give him a chance. I'd be thrilled to have a QB who makes the Browns relevant for even two straight years.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

IMO Weeden needs to make big strides this year in this offense i agree he deserves his chance to develop, but the only thing worse than not having a QB is having one you believe is the answer when you find out hes not...So i do suggest give him his chance but if Teddy Bridgewater falls in my lap im not passing on him to let Weeden try an prove hes an Elite QB....I really really want him to be the guy but he hasnt passed my eye test as of yet...In todays NFL when all the rookie QBs are coming in and putting up nice numbers he shouldnt get a different standard..

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

The Browns would probably need the 1st or 2nd overall pick to get Bridgewater. (Clowney/Bridgewater)

The Browns have trotted out some sorry ass teams over the year to the point where I scratch my head and go "These are professionals?" The talent was terrible, the front office inept, and the coaching absolutely abysmal... and yet the last time they picked in the top 2 was the second year of the expansion.

The team talent and coaching this year is head and shoulders above any of those teams. They have almost no shot at the top two picks this year. That's not saying the Browns are 'good' yet, but they clearly aren't atrociously bad enough to compete for the top 3 draft picks.

At worst I see this team just inside the top 10. Bridgewater should be long gone by then. Sure his stock may fall, but I doubt it. He should run a clinic on 90% of the AAC.
