Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Why? How much was everyone raving about how TT works so hard on his game and how it's al starting to come together? All we heard coming into the season was how TT was becoming the leader of the team and he's a fring All Star just give hime time.

The dude is a bench player. Accept him for who he is. We drafted 2 bench players with the 4th pick and we tried to force them to play roles as starter that they're not best suited for.

Do you know what a straw man is?

p.s. you don't notice a pattern in oasis' post?

Or maybe you're talking about two extremely young players that are still improving. Both of them have shown enough talent to have long careers in the NBA. Just the fact he's hit any midrange jumpers should be encouraging enough, the guy couldn't hit 50% of his free throws in college.

That's exactly right. Thompson hasn't become the shooter he was sold as this summer. It's destroyed his potential growth this season.

It's almost like since the season started he has something else to do besides hoist right handed jumpers in an empty gym all day. Really, no way anyone could have seen it coming.

Scratch the conventional jumpshot. He looks unnatural doing it. Just extend the range of his push shot. Learning to do it without dribbling. It may not be pretty but that shit works for him.

I think his jumper is awkward, but the form looks a bit reminiscent of Kevin Love's. Obviously the end results of both are completely different, but Kevin Love sticks his butt out and leans forward on his jumper, as well.

I'm not going to fault a guy for having a jumper that needs work when A) it's better than it was last year, B) he just switched hands in the summer and C) it's very serviceable, he just lacks the confidence in it.

I think if we'd run a play or two for him at the beginning of games that would get him an open 16-18 foot jumper, if he knocks one down, it might get his confidence going and force the other team to adjust how they play him.

TT had 15 points and 13 rebounds. I think in an offense that is heavily dominated by guard play, that is a pretty good result.

some of you guys man........

Stop with the excuses for Tristan. It's clear as day they type of player he is. Here's a question. Why are we trying to develop Tristan offensively when we were told when he was drafted that his strength was his defense and his motor? We were told that Tristan was going to be an elite defender. Why are we trying to improve his offense when his defense isn't at a level that we were told it should be?

It's like some of you forgot that Tristan was a defense first guy. When he was drafted we all saw clear as day that he had no offensive talent at all, period.

They tried to justify the pick by saying he was going to be an elite defender and a great "human being" He was a wasted pick at #4. On draft night there was nobody waiting to her Tristans name called. Who had Tristan going #4? Did anybody really sit there and said boy we just drafted Kyrie now we need Tristan Thompson. Gosh the fact that he's on our team and he's a nice guy makes you guys so gullible. He's not that good. And what he does do well we already have a guy who's as good as it gets in the league doing it in Andy.

I mean what the fuck, we drafted Tristan and didn't even trade Andy. Now Andy when he's been healthy has outplayed Tristan hands down no questions asked. It's like the same arguement people make about the Jack signing. Why sign Jarrett Jack for 6m/yr to play backup PG if you're going to bring Dion off the bench.

Why the fuck did we draft Anthony Bennett if we drafted Tristan and we still had Andy?

Why are you so concerned TT might become a good offensive weapon? Let's stifle his offensive growth just so you look good. That sounds like a brilliant idea.

75% of the time you have to eat crow in a game thread as TT has a better than average game for a starting power forward. At some point you'll need to shut up so you don't look like a complete idiot, if that point hasn't been crossed already.

Who did you want to draft at #4 that year? Honestly? It drives me up the wall because you keep railing Dion and TT as worthless picks but who could we have selected after them that would not disappoint you so much?

Valanciunas? That is who I wanted during the draft.

Let's see what he is doing this year. In 29 minutes a game:

10.7 pts 8.4 rebs 1.9 turnovers .4 steals .7 assists 1.1 blocks 76% from the FT line and 50% from the field.

TT in 33 minutes a game:

12.0 pts, 9.8 rebounds 1.6 turnovers .5 steals .9 assists .4 blocks 66.9 % from the FT line and 45% from the field

Definitely not much of a difference in stats. Please show me someone else you would have liked to draft instead of TT and get a product on the floor that you think would be worth a #4 pick in that draft. And don't say Klay Thompson because no one had him going anywhere near #4. His success could not have been predicted.

Tristan is a great guy and a good player. I don't think he will be a great player. But he can certainly contribute to winning basketball. Much of his game is forced and unnatural but he makes up for it by playing hard. Did anyone see him telling everyone what to do before the Lakers final shot? The guy is a leader but he lacks the raw talent. If we could put Tristan's leadership into Kyrie's body, we'd be looking pretty elite right now imo.

Tristan is what he is. Off the bench or starting. You'll probably see him get 13 and 10 most nights.

This is what threadshitting looks like.

You don't want to respond to what actual people are saying and write stuff like this than so be it.

And I guess that is a no on the strawman question.

Concerned???? He's never going to be an offensive weapon for us. We need to play to his strengths. Do you watch the games. How many times has Tristan had the ball with no defender standing anywhere near him? He will not shoot the ball. If that was Bennett He'd be getting killed on here for not taking those shots, meanwhile Tristan is killing our offense with his limited offense. If he doesn't want to shoot the ball get his ass out the game. He's not even a big difference maker on the devensive end. He's the worst offensive PF in the league.

*Side Note

Remember when Ibaka came in the league and he had no range and was extremely limited offensively? Did you see that Memphis games last night. He was at the 3 point line, had a SF on him and took two dribbles to create space and hit a stepback 3. Tristan Thompson will never be able to do that. Oh and by the way Ibaka is an elite defender. Tristan is just a garbage man.
