Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think it's funny how Zen continues to spout out Bennett's height like it means something and completely ignore that Bennett's wingspan and standing reach are normal for a PF.

Even with putting those aside, he can just flat-out play the position, and, with time, play it well. Potentially very well. Zen's talking like being 6'7" is going to automatically disqualify Bennett from ever being anything more than Chuck Hayes (his words, not mine).

But you're right. Despite his height, his standing reach is average for a power forward, and his wingspan is actually above average for a power forward. Additionally, he has elite strength, speed, and athleticism for the power forward position. Add all of those physical traits together, and he is actually a mismatch for other power forwards.

Btw, does anyone remember Bennett's ability to get off the ground much faster multiple times in a row than other guys? Really nice when going for rebounds and put backs.

I need to stop posting when im drunk at 5 am, I really do. My love for AB just comes out at that time.

Hahaha, I did that in the draft thread and damn near got banned!!!

It's like the college days.

Wake up feeling great, roll over and realize what I've done, that 8 from last night turned out to be a 6. Instead of the walk of shame, its the slow walk with coffee to the pc. I need a breathalyzer that locks me out of the AB thread past midnight.

With AB, the biggest concern i have is his ability to remain healthy. He's always had issues with various health problems and so far, that trend continued in year 1 with his knee.

He also has to get his mental game up to a professional level but Mike Brown didn't do him any favors last year with how he played the kid. Like all of us, i'm eager to see the REAL AB come out and play next year. We could all see the kind of player we thought we were getting last season.

This could just be the idealist in me, but I expect Bennett to have a similar sophomore offseason to Waiters. Great shape, very motivated, with a lot to prove. Do I do not expect AB to put up 20/10 next season by any means, but 15/7 would be not out of the question if he can stay healthy.

All you can hope for is that the Cavaliers aren't delusional.

We're a really long ways from contending, and he still needs a plethora of minutes. All of our guys do. I'm convinced Kyrie could play maybe 35 minutes of a playoff intensity game.

We went into last season like we were contending. Should have followed Washington's pace and admitted this is was a throwaway season. Bennett and Karasev should have gotten double the minutes they got.

Jack absolutely should have
been benched. For the good of the team, we flushed away a lot of available minutes to Jarrett Jack. Delly clearly smoked him and deserved the minutes. Clark got so many minutes too. God I'm glad we enacted scorched earth policy and excommunicated Earl,Andrew, and Mike. Jarrett you're the only one remaining. Flush that shit of a season/offseason to the sewers of Cleveland misery forever.

I think Bennett will be a lot like Paul Milsap in a few years if he gets the minutes and is allowed to play through mistakes. If not, he'll probably end up like Jason Maxiell...

Hopefully they find a team willing to take him (Jack) in a trade this off season. Kyrie and Delly are clearly PG1 and 2 on this team.

I think everyone is being overly hopeful with AB. I hope I am wrong, but he just looks way too raw and fearful on the court. I wish we took Noel.

Bennett might be raw on defense, but he's quite refined on offense. He just needs to come into a season where he is prepared like having a summer league, training camp, being conditioned, practices, preseason games and such. He also needs to get over mental blocks he had this past season although he looked fine by the end of the season. He might be over them already.

You cannot over emphasize the importance of confidence in this sport as well. The kid came out of the chute in an awful state and really battled uphill the entire season. The thing he has in his favor is a world of talent. This kid has got a LOT of skills and it just waiting to be used in the proper way. Mike really failed him big-time in that area and in my line of thinking THAT was a huge part as to why he wasn't retained.

Like i said though, would love to see a FULL healthy season out of him. Otherwise, he just becomes a specialty kind of guy.

Yeah, Noel looked great last year

Should Bennett not have been raw? The kid played one year of college and came back off shoulder surgery when entering the league. He showed a lot of growth as the year progressed.

Yeah, Noel looked great last year

Sarcasm aside, missing one year does not a career make.
If we redrafted last year's draft today...Noel would still look like an attractive option.
As long as I had confidence that my medical staff would take whatever time and steps they needed to fully heal Noel's knee, he still looks a no-brainer of a #1 pick in that particular draft.
I think a lot of teams (including the Cavs) were scared off drafting Noel because they knew it was likely he would miss the entire year rehabbing, and they didn't want to take that chance.
