I'm pretty sure any guard who can't play defense is going to be jumping for joy when the team drafts someone who projects to be an elite defender at worst!

Well, great!

But who is that dude? (Edit: NM. Twitter Bio.)

Real person you should ask is homie from New Jersey that's always selling Kyrie's shoes on here. :chuckles:

This is excellent news, I'm glad he did it quickly and painlessly ala Durant. We committed a lot of money to a player that hasn't translated his vast skillset into wins. This is the time that Kyrie needs to 1) Stay healthy and 2) start having a real impact on the game.

I'm glad we can put to bed the Kyrie is leaving talk for a significant period of time.

He hasn't done anything yet. He can't actually sign the contract until tomorrow, and until he does it's premature to start the celebration tour.

And I don't think Kyrie would turn down max money. I'm just saying that we don't have any legitimate sources yet saying he will sign. It's all speculation right now.

Spooner's tweet was retweeted into my timeline by Dennis Manoloff of the PD. I'm guessing he wouldn't retweet it if he thought it unreliable, but perhaps I'm wrong. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Great, he will sign it. The only problem is that we haven't offered it yet. Is there any chance we don't? I sure hope we do...

Can we put all Kyrie trade scenarios and speculation that this kid "hates" Cleveland to bed now?

You must have missed the Chris Broussard tweet up the thread that initiated all of these talks. The Cavs are flying to New Jersey to offer him the max deal as soon as free agency opens on July 1st.

Fuck yeah baby. Hope all of you negative Nancy's go away for good now.

Can't wait for this kid to take his game to the next level, and Blatt seems like the guy to help him reach it.

They're not going away. They're just going to add overpaid to their list of complaints.

Not until he tattoos Cleveland on his forehead while eating a Slyman's corned beef sandwich (heavy on the mustard).

The only way we will ever keep and retain players with elite potential is to actually keep them. Check
The only way we will ever be able to add talents as good as Kyrie or better is by drafting or trading for them and keeping them. Check

LeBron is only considering us in part due to the hometown connection. Melo, Bosh, etc would NEVER consider Cleveland unless we were a perennial finals participant. Untill that time we need to draft and retain players like Kyrie and Wiggins, attempt for LeBron, and continue to draft in or trade for any other potential elite players. If we want above average to just below elite level players to sign we FA, we must over pay.

These are the dynamics we are swimming in and in that situation, resigning Kyrie to the Max is a no-brainer, even if it means that we are projecting him to play up to the value of the contract by improving in many areas

Good.

So, now can we lock up the trade Kyrie Irving suggestions thread now?
