You'd think Woj confirming would be enough, but I guarantee later today someone posts it's still not a done deal. Taking bets, odds on favorite coming out of the gate is Los, but don't rule out MacPhisto.
Technically, it's still not done, as Windhorst has made sure he's said everywhere. But for all intents and purposes, it is.
You've also seen hints of what I've told you - that other teams have sprung up in discussions including the Sixers and Denver. I had a feeling it was getting close when I told ya'll last Thursday that Timberwolves PR was being told to put together player profile information packets on numerous players. That was the first sign and some of it may have been a means to try to lay some red herrings. They dropped the other players off the profile request yesterday morning, so I'd guess they finalized details on Tuesday at some point.
The deal hasn't been done for weeks, not in this form. The T-Wolves and Cavs only recently decided a simpler trade was in both of their best interests. Minnesota may still make some moves after. They still want Thaddeus Young, but it was to complex to include him in the trade. It probably was decided weeks ago that they would do a Love trade in some form and it would likely include Wiggins, but I doubt that was a slam dunk until last week.
The Cavs are still talking to other teams, but I suspect it's for other deals going forward. They are still talking to Orlando, so I have to assume it's for something else - and it could be for something that never comes to be. That happens too. They burned up the phones last weekend with a lot of teams. I'm surprised they settled on just doing a two team deal because I had been told no one thought it would only be just Minnesota and Cleveland, mainly because they were under the impression Minnesota was not a fan of Bennett.
I doubt they move Bennett for Thad Young since they can't aggregate his salary for 60 days after the trade goes down, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them move him at some point over the next year. Many of their scouts don't think he'll be much more than an adequate PF, most adept at coming off the bench as a stretch 4. But they love Wiggins - and he'll obviously be the focus of their PR push and the new face of the franchise when he arrives.
