Fastlane Tonight - in Cleveland!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I like Wyatt winning, but man it makes me so sad that Jericho, the best guy in the company on the mic, has just become a big name used to put people over. I guess he's ok with it, because he keeps coming back after touring and getting stuck doing that, but still I'd like to see him actually compete for titles again.

Yeah, it's what he wants to do (put young talent over). In the case of someone like Bray Wyatt I have no problem with him doing so, and Jericho did get a clean win at the last PPV, so it's created a more evenly matched feud. A few years ago Y2J did have some solid feuds with CM Punk over the WWE Title, and Ziggler over the MITB briefcase. It's the jobbing to the Fandango's and Ryback's of the world like in his previous run that need to stop.

It's pretty obvious where they're going to go with this. Cena will come back and win the title over Brock next time, and it will look like that much more of an accomplishment because of how bad he got his ass beat at Summerslam. I'm sure Brock will beat his ass a few times between now and then to make it look like Cena's lost it. It's lame and predictable, but this is the WWE, so that's par for the course. I don't even follow it outside of PPVs (mostly because I have WWE network), but I can call half the things that are going to happen just because I watched this as a kid and they haven't really changed the formulas at all. The second that Nikki chick came to the ring I knew she was going to turn on her sister, and I didn't even know who she was prior to the pre-match promo.

I remember at Wrestlemania my girlfriend was over when I watched and she thought it was a re-run because I kept telling her everything that was about to happen. :chuckles:

Also, does anyone find it kind of sad that Stephanie McMahon is apparently the best female wrestler on the WWE's roster after having not wrestled for a decade?

Better than I thought it would be.

Heel Miz is the best. As a mid card heel, he'll have to job more than I'd prefer. But this movie star gimmick fits him perfectly.

I thought the match of the night was Rusev-Swagger. Great psychology. Made you think Swagger actually had a chance to win. Rusev is mega over now as a heel. I'd bet Sheamus is his next feud.

2 decent women's matches. And the Reigns-Orton match got the death spot AFTER a womens match. Usually, there is one womens match and it gets the death spot. This time, it created the death spot.

Lumberjack was the absolute worst possible gimmick. I understand that Ambrose/Rollins will be a rivalry for a while and they didn't want to burn a cage or HIAC match on their 1st PPV, but better no gimmick or just make it a no DQ match. They actually had to have somebody tell the lumberjacks what to do. Ambrose's dive onto all of the lumberjacks while they carried Rollins was a cool spot, but beyond that.....uggh.

I know it's great to see Cena get dominated, but how many shows is Lesnar booked for. Are we really going to have a part time champ?

Agree with pretty much everything here. I'm actually shocked Ziggler won the title over Miz so soon, but I'm not mad. Love both of those guys, and Miz's new character is perfect. Would like to see this rivalry continue for another month or so.

Rusev-Swagger was an awesome match... except it would have been nice to see Swags go over. I like the way he lost though (not taping out). Rusev sold that injury really well and that dude can GO in the ring. I'm still a little skeptical of his gimmick long term though.

I didn't get the lumberjack gimmick either. Especially seeing as how (in storyline) Ambrose got to choose the stipulation... weird he didnt go with a match with the MITB contract on the line, or no DQ. Like you said it had some good spots, but also was a clusterfuck at times and took away from their much anticipated match.

As far as Lesnar goes... I think his schedule has him appearing on Raw tonight, Raw before Night of Champions, and then at Night of Champions. As long as he shows up to a few Raws and the ppv's I'm happy with him as champion. Heyman is there to talk him up during absences, and it's not like the titles are defended on the weekly shows anyway. My question is, barring a rematch with Cena, who is his next feud going to be?

Reigns is still way too green IMO, Orton is a heel, Batista is coming back soon but also a heel, Sheamus has been lingering in the mid card for so long he's tough to take seriously as a threat to Lesnar, Bryan is still out, and I would say turn Cesaro face and use the Heyman storyline to build it up, but is it too late now since Cesaro is jobbing to mid carders twice a week? I guess we'll see.

The tag titles match and battle royal were both exciting, but yeah other than those matches the rest was pretty bad. I would have been pissed if these were the old days of $60 ppvs and I paid to see the Rollins-Ambrose match only for it to not occur.

Summerslam has alot of promise though...
Official match
Lesnar vs. Cena for the belts

Unofficial matches
Ambrose vs. Rollins
Reigns vs. Orton or HHH
Jericho vs. Wyatt (hopefully better this time around)
Paige vs. AJ for the Divas title

Other matches that look possible...
Uso's vs. Dust Bros vs. Wyatt's for the tag team titles
The Miz vs. Ziggler for the IC title
Rusev vs. Swagger

Alright, so I did a pretty solid job predicting the Summerslam card 3 weeks ago hitting on 7/8 matches.. only miss was having the tag titles defended rather than the Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella match. So, I'm going to try my luck again for predicting the Night of Champions card with explanations.

Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena (WWE World Heavyweight Title)
- I dont see Cena getting his ass kicked the way he did and just going away without a rematch. I'm not sure if Cena prevails, but a rematch definitely looks like a lock, especially with a lack of credible main event face contenders for Lesnar right now.

Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz (IC Title)
- This match is the one I'm most unsure about, as I could see them having a rematch on Raw before it even gets to the PPV. It's hard to imagine WWE wasting the best gimmick The Miz has had going for him in a long time so I think he eventually wins the belt back. Wouldn't be surprised to see either go into this PPV as champion, likely facing each other again, but someone like Cesaro or RVD or a returning Barrett could challenge.

Sheamus vs. Rusev vs. Swagger (US Title)
- I think this is a good way of continuing a solid mid card feud with Swagger-Rusev by tossing Sheamus and the US title in the mix. Swagger has lost both timesto Rusev but neither have been definitive losses. Swagger could win the US belt, which would be a cool moment, without Rusev being pinned/submitting. Sheamus needs to lose this belt that has done nothing for him and turn heel.

Uso's vs. Dust Bros vs. Wyatt's (Tag Team Titles)
- Predicted it for Summerslam and didnt happen. WWE gave pretty much zero air time to the tag team division in the past month, but that will change now. This should be an insanely fun match if/when it happens.

AJ vs. Paige (Diva's Title)
- These two are just on another level compared to the rest of the divas and the feud still has plenty of juice left.

Roman Reigns vs. Triple H
- Logical choice. Reigns took down Kane, then Orton, and now next up is Triple H to likely cap the Reigns vs The Authority feud. Also, WWE trying to boost those network subscriptions hard right now so adding Triple H to a "B" grade PPV makes sense.

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins
- These two are far from done, and Rollins winning last night all but assures that. Guessing there will be another stipulation (cage match, no DQ, etc).

Bray Wyatt vs. Chris Jericho
- Jericho is scheduled to take time off after this PPV to go on tour, so it doesn't make any sense for either guy to move on to something new. Their tied 1-1 in their series of matches, and this rubber match will give Wyatt the rub and write off Jericho.

Brie Bella vs. Nikki Bella
- After last night this looks like a given. Also, a way of WWE promoting that Total Diva's show. Just hope it's relegated to the pre-show because the rest of the card (if it goes as predicted) looks pretty stacked.

I realize it's kind of rematch heavy from Summerslam, but if you watched last night I think it's fair to say that's not necessarily a bad thing. Most of these feuds all still have alot of momentum going and loose ends to tie up, and by WWE making them 2-3 months long only increases their importance. No disrespect to Fandango vs. Adam Rose or Bo Dallas vs. Damien Sandow, but no one wants to see that garbage filler on a PPV. WWE seems to finally be doing things right with giving significant air time to many different feuds rather than just building up the 2-3 main events and randomly throwing together weak storylines for the rest of the card. This is also why I think Lesnar as a part time champ could work out well. You dont need him on every Raw and Smackdown to hype up the main event. It will sell itself. Giving that end of Raw and Smackdown TV time to Rollins/Ambrose, HHH/Reigns, Wyatt/Jericho, Stephanie/Bella's, etc will make the whole card look strong.

Just a quick review on the PPV:

Miz v Ziggler: Told a good story, good spots, and got the crowd pretty hot. These two have great in ring chemistry with eachother. Good to see Dolph get the win. Hopefully they give him & the IC tittle a push.

AJ vs Paige: Good match, these two are above & beyond the best divas in the WWE. The feud is hot. Paige is out-crazying AJ. I think this is a good opportunity to bring in other Divas to build the division. You cannot keep having these two every week or it will get old. Have each of them build a mini faction and spice it up. At the end of the day it will be Paige vs AJ, but WWE needs a way to incorporate more divas.

I must go of on a tangent, but Paige is sexy as f**k. That pale skin & make up just do it for me. Add that nice ass and mean streak, and im sold Especially the whole crazy persona. WWE is doing a damn good job with her. Oh and when she kissed AJ after the match, total psycho, but it was a great move on her part. She

Rusev v Swagger: Good story. Fans always eat up patriotism. I like that they kept Rusev strong, but having him win, despite injury. They also did a nice job of keeping Swagger relevant by having him not tap out. This does wonders for guys that are more of an antihero (see Steve Austin v Bret Hart).

Ambrose vs Rollins: Good use of lumberjacks. They kept their feud hot by Seth cheating to win. There was a few good spots. I personally would have done 2 things differently: 1) Ambrose had Rollins above that one entrance in the crowd. He should have tossed him off. It would been a great build up to the crazy persona. 2) Just because these guys are so evenly match, I wish when Amrbose jumped on the lumberjacks and Rollins, that they would have just caught him. There were 10 or so guys holding up Rollins, and some of the guys looked like they just fell to fall. Them moshing while fighting would have been crazy.

Lesnar vs Cena: Was beutiful. It wace nice to see Brock assert his dominance, and for Cena to be mortal for a night. I would sit Cena out for a week just to push the beating. Brock should tear through anyone until Wrestlemania. Not sure how it will work with his deal, but it needs to happen. This & WM were huge wins for him, and he needs to lose at a big stage to someone who needs the rub. Dear God, not Reigns.

Paige's ass though:

I love the "I'm bigger, stronger, faster, meaner than you" Lesnar. I would be perfectly happy if he shows up on one Raw a month to destroy someone for 10 minute's to end the show (not a match. Just a beat down) followed up by a 20 minute squash match with 16 German suplexes every PPV. That's how you book a monster heel. He looks the part, talks the part and is believable.

Let him have the belt for 4 years for all I care. Lesnar is on it right now.

They made it a lumberjack match so Rollins couldn't run from Dean. I thought it was the best match of the night. Not even the lumberjacks could stop Ambrose and how crazy he is. I thought it was a great idea.

The debate between who has the better ass between Paige and AJ could go on for days. I'm in love with them both. I get it that with the pale skin and "emo" look that Paige isnt for everyone, but I find her incredibly sexy. She's only 21 years old too I believe, which is crazy.

If I'm a fan buying into the whole rematch thing then there has to be match stipulations.

There likely will be. Cage match for Rollins vs Ambrose (no one can leave, no one can enter) and No DQ for Wyatt vs Jericho (make the match be more brutal and have a good way to write Y2J off).

As far as Lesnar vs Cena and Miz vs Ziggler those would only be their 2nd meetings, AJ vs Paige would be their 3rd... you dont want to do too many stipulations or else it feels gimmicky and there is Extreme Rules and TLC PPV's for that. Again, after last night there still seem to be some feuds that are unresolved. Better to tie up the loose ends than to simply scrap it just for the sake of moving on to something new.

Freaking love Summerslam, and I thought top to bottom it was a great ppv. A little predictable but then again, the twists were mostly what the fans wanted to see. Entertaining matches all night long.

If Lesnar comes in for a 2-3 month full time run, RAW is back to appointment tv for me. And I think we can all agree RAW needs all the help they can get with MNF coming back.

Then make it a Fall Count Anywhere or NO DQ or No Holds Barred or There Must Be a Winner. Could've had even more crazy spots and the stupidity of half the roster standing there looking like idiots.

I think the main reason they didn't do it that way was because they are saving their ammo for the final showdown between the two. I'm guessing the briefcase will be on the line for that one and it will be either a cage match or a hell in a cell, as those are the match types you typically end up with when one guy is always running from another one like Rollins keeps doing.

Agreed. The Ambrose/Rollins cage matches are gonna be insane. This was just more build up to the finale.

Ambrose and Wyatt are quickly becoming 2 of my favorite guys on the roster. Here's hoping they eventually have a big feud.

I appreciate what Ambrose is (Piper/Pillman crazy brawler), but I just dont get it yet. Im not a fan of his delivery in promos. I think he would do wonders if he watched a few Punk promos. I like the brawling style in ring, he just needs more moves that help him stand out. I like the trick he does in the ropes, but he needs more. He needs to steal Paige's DDT, he needs a high impact "Watch me sacrifice myself" move as well.
