Likely won't be announced until at least a week from tomorrow.

While the deal can technically be completed on the 23rd, that's a Saturday and the League offices are closed on then how weekends. So probably the first we will hear anything from the NBA or the Cavs themselves will be next Monday the 25th.

And so the inevitable countdown continues. Still think it's ridiculous to prolong the cause. I mean, it's guaranteed that it's going to happen.

I've forgotten, what's the 30-day no trade clause for again? Seems like something that should be revisited given these current circumstances.

I can kind of see Adam Silver doing his best "am I the sultan or am I the sultan? From this day forward the princess shall marry whoever she pleases" impression as he abolishes the 30-day no trade rule. They have the power to alter the rule, and while admittedly I'm still not sure why it exists, surely it'll be at the very least up for debate now.

Are people really like "maybe". This is like the Jack trade. Were we really risking giving up a guy we played and a 1st round pick to get rid of Jarrett Jack because we might be getting Lebron. I never believed it. You don't do that to "give you a shot". After the Jack trade it was inevitable.

Here. We just signed the backup wiggins would've been. Marion.
No team has traded for Love, they don't seem to be trying (unless very quietly). Love said he is intrigued playing here. Do the math. Same situation.

It is a done deal.

The All Star voting won't come down to Kyrie vs. Rose. I think they'll both be starters if Rose is healthy. I think Wade will be the odd man out this year.

Hopefully Kyrie doesn't get voted in. If he does, he gets a nice bump in pay and it hurts our flexibility. An ideal situation would be Rose and Wade/Rondo/Wall getting voted in.

Wall has no shot of getting in over Kyrie. Kyrie crushed him in votes last year despite Wall having a better season and playing for a playoff team. This year, Kyrie will be one of the more exposed players in the league playing on a juggernaut with LeBron James and Kevin Love. He'll probably get more votes than Wade this season. He was only 70,000 votes behind him last year playing for a shitty Cleveland team with only a couple of national TV games.

Rose is really the only guy I could see getting more votes than Kyrie just through the sheer size of the Chicago fan base. Wade could keep it close and possibly beat him out, but I think Wade will take a hit by not being teamed up with LeBron and being on a much less relevant Miami team.

Yeah, I agree. I think he will get more votes because of the exposure and all of the bandwagon fans that Cleveland will have this year. I just hope that he doesn't :) .

While I agree it would be more beneficial for our cap going forward, I say fuck it. I want to see three All-Star starters from Cleveland in the same game.

It will have no effect. If I recall we offered him 27.5 percent, as opposed to 25% (see Paul George Deal). So basically we split the difference, and the Rose rule will not apply to him.

He took a player option 5th year in exchange for a 2.5% reduction IF he does qualify for the Rose rule. So, if he gets voted in, he will get 27.5% rather than 25%, if he doesn't.

For those asking when there will be an announcement. Good read from the Celtic's website outlining how trades go down in the NBA.

http://www.nba.com/celtics/news/blog/inside-front-office.html

Before a press conference can be held, the teams participate in a recorded conference call with the league office where all contract and trade terms are outlined and agreed to.

Don't expect a formal announcement until Monday afternoon at the earliest.

On the other hand, maybe the NBA will consider July 24 (the day Wiggins signed) as day 1. If that's the case, day 30 would be Friday. I can only dream.

I assume it would be thirty days starting from the time his contract was filed with the league office.

Agree, but the CBA is worded vaguely enough there could be some wiggle room if the NBA and the Player's Association decide to put an end to the insanity.

I mean it will happen, does it really matter when it happens? I could see it happening Monday just to get more exposure and have the media run with it for the week. With CF starting in less then two weeks, coming out on a Monday would give the NBA the most exposure going into CF.

Can we get this Safari to 800+ pages before Love trade is announced? :D

Based on how awful the last 50 have been, I don't think anyone is prepared to write or read 20 more.

Everyone should save their energy for the welcome thread.

Isn't this what happens to war vets? All we knew was the safari but now that it's over with we don't know what to do with ourselves.
