Kansas City is the perfect example of "anything can happen" when you get to the postseason. All a team needs to do is get hot and lucky at the same time.
WWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure nobody knows, but I'm a Cavs fan based in Kansas City. I LOVE the Royals. I have ties to the Cleveland area, so I pull for the Indians too, but the Royals are my team when it comes to baseball. This whole thing has been completely unexpected, and no one really knows how to react to everything. It's been incredible. Going into this, I think a lot of fans were like me in the sense that we just wanted the team to win the Wild Card and make the "real" playoffs. Then they won the 1st two in Anaheim, and it became, "well, we might as well win game 3." I fully expected the run to end in Baltimore, but then they won the 1st two, and it became clear something was up.
Well, here we are 4 days later, and the Kansas City Royals are in the World motherfucking Series. Words can't describe it. It's just been an amazing run.
I know it's unlikely, but I'm rooting for a sweep of San Francisco. It would be amazing to see them have an undefeated postseason. As a kid, I never liked baseball. I always loved basketball so much that is is literally the only sport I played throughout my school career. Also, I never had cable, so when I did have cable like 4 years ago, it was my first time getting to watch baseball games and my knowledge about it increased quite a bit actually getting to watch it.
Then a couple years ago, I've got to go to like 3 Royals games, and I really enjoyed them. Since then I kept my eye on them to see how they do. But this playoff run, WOW. This team has made me LOVE baseball. The passion, the joy, the excitement they play with is the most fun I have had watching a team since back when LeBron was playing with the Cavs the first time and they used to dance and do handshakes every game.
The Royals have inspired me to watch like 4 baseball movies over the last week and I'm watching the Ken Burns Baseball series right now and learning about the history of the game. It is truly amazing what they are doing right now. This has meant so much to the people in Kansas (and probably most of Missouri, not sure where the cut off is for Cards fans). It has brought people together and given them excitement. There are tons of people that don't even like baseball that are following the Royals and rooting for them right now. This is a game with a lot of history, and this is one for the history books.
Where are all of these out-of-nowhere Royals fans coming from?
Although I have to admit I'm happy for them too and am pulling for them in the World Series. Us small markets need to band together whenever possible.
I'd be lying if I said I was nervous about the Royals chances. I'm wondering when the magic is going to run out. But then again, I guess I would have been worried about there chances against all the other teams they have played too so who knows.Giants -vs- Royals will be one hell of a World Series. Pulling for KC.
Nah. Just every other yearGiants are in the WS every year wtf
I'm unusually superstitious when it comes to the Royals... didn't want to celebrate to soon.
