I firmly believe this team is struggling because of Blatt. He has no NBA coaching skills. The Euro-league and the NBA arre night and day of difference.

Hope we can get rid of Blatt sooner than things collapse on us.
And bring in what retread that's going to get out coached in a playoff series?

It's an adjustment phase for everyone in this organization, not just the players.

What's he doing that he did in the Euro-league that he's been unsuccessful with in the NBA? And what leads you to believe he won't change it?

It isn't very difficult to see why this guy sucks ass. And if you don't see why, than you're delusional.

Blow all of your time-outs before the 1 minute mark in the 4th quarter? Like seriously, that's not a "learning adjusment" - that's flat out horroble coaching and our team WILL NEVER FLOURISH under this guy.

Can't wait til his ass gets canned.

I don't know if he just gets caught up in the game, but his substitution patterns have been been pretty rough.

How the hell do you play Joe Harris the last 18 minutes of the game? I understand that Blatt may have been frustrated with Dion jacking up step back, fade away shots, but Marion should have been in on that last crucial defensive possession.

It also boggles my mind that he went stretches last night without any of our big three on the floor. The only time that should ever happen is if we are blowing someone out in the fourth quarter.

I also don't know why you would play without Love or LeBron on the floor, since there was a point where we were just playing the same starting lineup that led us to 24 wins last year.

It seems like Blatt likes to make his changes by his gut feeling once he gets into the game, but it's leading to some bad lineups. If he is going to keep doing that, he needs to dedicate one of his coaches to paying attention to who is going in and out and make sure that the above stuff doesn't happen.

I am fully confident that Blatt can ultimately take us where we need to go, but he needs to take steps to correct some of these mistakes that he has been making as he gets used to the NBA.

Windy's take on Blatt's early season struggles:

My take on Blatt, ten games in:

Pros:

3. Adaptability with his rotations. He has sent different lineups out to see how certain players play together. Harris as emerged as a nice rotation player and looks like he will be able to contribute all season. Kid knows how to play winning basketball. If Mike Brown was still our coach, i doubt Harris would've seen much playing time up to this point.

Cons:

1. His rotation minutes are a mess. Irving, Love, and James are playing too much. I understand this team needs to gel a bit better but you shouldn't have a player pointing out how much minutes he has played.

.
Contradicting bullshit.

The rotations are the worst thing about this guy. Can't wait til he's fired.

I know personally several people who had to eat their hats after remarks like these. I hope your hat is coated with sugar...

Blatt was hired to coach a rebuilding Cavs team, I don't think in their wildest dreams did they anticipate having the roster they have and Blatt has struggled to adjust to NBA coaching life. He is use to overworking players due to smaller seasons overseas. In every single loss this season he has extended a role player pass their minute threshold. His adjustments post half time haven't been obvious or noticeable. He still hasn't found an proper guard rotation or units that structure well together.

I would agree, but it's just not true, the part about overworking players. Quite the contrary.

After 10 games I feel it's safe to grade Blatt so far. With 3 All-Stars and the best player in the world. I feel as though a grade D is fair. Mike Brown could have this team at 5-5. And please no more look at what Miami did crap. Shit getting old.

It's early and I fully expect this to change, but I am quite disappointed in Blatt's game management so far. Strange, inconsistent lineups, players playing too many minutes, and the timeout situation last night was fairly embarrassing and inexcusable for an NBA coach. These are all fairly easy correctable problems, but I think I had my hopes raised too much by all the Israeli/Macabi fans on here that kept talking about what a savant he is.

11. Blatt’s rotations are still clearly a work in progress. The Cavs were outscored a combined 28-14 in the final two minutes of all four quarters. Blatt credited the Spurs for being a team that knows how to close quarters, but also blamed some of it on foul trouble. He pulled James, who had three fouls, with three minutes left in the first half.

12. But the Cavs still extended the lead to 11 with 1:42 left on eight straight points from Kyrie Irving, including a pair of 3-pointers. Irving was also pulled for the final minute, however, and by halftime the lead was down to 47-44.

22. Joe Harris bore the brunt of the combination of some foul issues and trying to reduce the load on the three stars. Harris entered with 7:28 left in the third and played the rest of the way for a whopping 19 1/2 minutes without a break. Harris conceded he was tired by the end of the game (no kidding) when the Spurs ran a great cut to the basket and Manu Ginobili scored on a pass from Duncan after Harris got twisted around. The bucket gave the Spurs a 91-88 lead with 17 seconds left and the Cavs used their final timeout.

23. “That was frustrating,” Harris said. “I’m not a dummy. I figured they’d probably be coming at me and we talked about it, too. That’s one of the plays we prepared against. He almost lulled me to sleep. He knew I was getting on top of him hard on all his cuts, so he just kept me on his back side and (it was a) quick high-low action. I should’ve done a better job with my vision, shouldn’t have turned my head, try to at least get between him and the basket instead of playing on the top side.”

24. It was a great play by the Spurs, but it was curious Shawn Marion, the Cavs’ best and longest perimeter defender, wasn’t in the game at that point

I think the arbitrary player minutes & rotations that are going on will calm down once the season gets going, but it does look like Blatt is at best "experimenting" during games right now, but sometimes it looks more like guessing, and like what happened with Harris, it was like someone forgot to sub the poor kid out for a breather. Same goes for timeouts. Plenty of WTF? Not looking like solid coaching right now. It doesn't really matter as long as Blat gets things in order before January, but he's looking like a rookie coach right now.

What I'm irked about is I wanted to see a Klove-LBJ pick and roll game. Where's the Klove-LBJ pick and roll game? What's up with that? We deserve to see the awesomeness that would happen with an Klove-LBJ pick and roll.

There was a high pick and roll scheme going for the first 3 games and I haven't seen it since. It worked pretty well so I don't know why they've gone away from it.

Finished the last 2ish minutes in the third with entirely bench players (sans Marion) and as soon I saw that lineup, I believe we were up a handful, I thought "Unless Dion goes on one of his streaks, Spurs are about to rip off a 7 point run to end the quarter."

Sure enough, we went into the 4th down 5.

I KNEW as soon as that lineup went in against the champs, they would smell blood and rip off some quick points. They did. If I saw that coming, how can our coaching staff not?? We just GAVE them the lead going into the 4th.

That was really stupid.

It's a secret weapon remember ? A few posters claimed this so other teams won't have as much film to defend such an awesome play.
