Maybe this isn't realistic, maybe it is. Let me say I'm not exactly sure how the trade exception stuff works - I'll leave that to the experts here. Might be easier to get K Martin now while injured. But here is the framework for a trade. And it works on the Trade Machine.
Cavs give up Tristan (probably going to want big $$$$ at end of year and I don't think his offensive game warrants paying him $10-14M per year), Dion (who I still really like but you have to give to get), Joe Harris (some value), Amundson, and Delly (not crazy about trading him, but his game is overrated anyways - 30% FG & no ability to drive/create - gritty defender and that's it). Cavs receive Dieng, Martin, and Wright.
Boston gives up Brandan Wright ($$$$ saver). Perhaps a 2nd rounder to Minny. Gets Harris, Admundson, and our Memphis 1st rounder.
Minnesota gives up Gorgui Dieng (I know, they don't want to trade him, but getting Tristan, Dion, a possible pick, and getting out of Kevin Martin's contract may entice them) and Kevin Martin (I think they want to dump his $$$). Gets Tristan, Dion, Delly, and a 2nd rounder from Boston.
End result for Cavs:
C - Dieng
F- Love
F- James
G- Martin (when he comes back)
G- Irving
Bench - Wright picks up the 12-15 minutes at each spot backing up Dieng/Love
Still have Marion & Miller available for 20-25 nightly minutes to back up the SF/SG spots.
Only thing I don't like about this scenario is not having a backup PG on roster. But decent PGs are somewhat easy to find. Plus LeBron is really the PG anyways.... but I'd still go after a vet who a team may want to dump.
Also would go after some D League players to fill out roster.
