Tristan Thompson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tristan has his issues but it's not his fault that we started the season with only 3 bigs and then after AV's injury/Mozgov we still have just 3 bigs.

Also not his fault that his coach keeps him in the lineup to counter a "small" lineup with Speights of all people (I'm perfectly fine letting Mozgov handle Speights but then I'm not a so-called coaching "genius")

Tons of problems with him. But the biggest one is definitely his lack of offensive awareness. He is a detriment to the team on that end, plain and simple.
Absolutely. Just a complete lack of understanding on that end. Commendable energy but just doesn't get it. Dime a dozen guy... And an embarrassment as a fourth overall pick.

I can think of no worse player to be involved in initiating the offense. It is absolutely pointless to pass Thompson the ball at the top of the key just to have him struggle to even get the ball to the other guard. I cringe every time he does it as you can just see the lack of confidence oozing out of him. Wish the dude the best, but considering his complete lack of offensive awareness and subpar interior defense, I just don't see how he contributes on a winning team, on a consistent basis. That is, unless he finds a third hand that is able to shoot well enough to demand the defender be within 5 feet of him at any point.

Don't mean to pick on you, but I've noticed these somewhat paradoxical sentiments everywhere so it's really nice to have them both in one place.

Point A: We started with a lack of depth and now have none to speak of (hopefully that will change soon) and so we are bad

Point B: Blatt has horrible rotations and plays bad players too often and so we are bad

Bonus Point: We play Kyrie, Kev, and Lebron too many minutes

You can't complain about the lack of depth, overplaying stars, AND Blatt's rotations. Let's give the dude a break until he at least has the opportunity to present a lineup that could contend in the NBA in 2015 (which I believe we will have at some point in 2015). He's acknowledged that Delly isn't a 30 minute a night guy and obviously knows he is tossing darts wth James Jones and Mike Miller. There just really aren't any other options.

I don't see how this has anything to do with my complaints about him: I think his playcalling is extremely suspect particularly not seeming to have watching any game tape of how the Minnesota T-Wolves used Kevin Love for the last several years.

Considering we just added two players in Mozgov and JR Smith who are definitely starting caliber over Delly and TT: it has nothing to do with the Denver game.

Your complaint wasn't about his playcalling. Your complaint was that he kept him in a small lineup against Speights. Directly prior to that, you said cut Tristan some slack for dealing with our lack of depth. I don't see why Blatt wouldn't deserve the same slack.

Why would he want to do that? It's hard to call how Minnesota used him "successful" when it didn't lead to any team success.

The goal is to win games.

Did you watch a different game then me? Mozgov played a total of 25 minutes, wasn't in any sort of foul trouble, and didn't get into the game till about 2 minutes left.

TT for a more offensive capable 4 like a Brandon Bass or Carl Landry type then sign Dalembert to round out the big rotation.

Minnesota had the 9th best offense in the league last year. They didn't make the playoffs because they were in the West and Rubio's terrible shooting killed them to end games.

This kind of bad analogy of not looking how Minnesota used Love because they didn't make the playoffs is similar to saying that since Hitler brushed his teeth, then we shouldn't brush our teeth

Still don't understand why he turned down the money we offered for his contract extension.
Look at Moz. He is literally better in every single statistic and TT still wants more than twice(!) the money. Thats just laughable...
Gotta use the Moz contract as some leverage to sign TT for less money in the off season.

We gave Andy's 32+ year old corpse $10 million a year just this year.

How do you ask TT to take a dollar less than that?

The Andy contract set the absolute floor for any TT extension, and it is one of many reasons it was a stupid contract to give.
