Kendrick Perkins - Canton's Enforcer

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why does Perkins pick the Cavs over the Clippers?

1. He'll actually get playing time. The Clippers already have a 4 big men rotation with Jordan, Griffin, Hawes, Davis. Perkins won't play there.

2. Easier path to the Finals. Clippers could be out in the first round. We have a good chance to get deeper into the postseason.

Come on, Perkins. Just blow off Doc and come to The Land.

If we get Perkins, no team will try to mess with us. And between him and Mozgov, opponents will have concern about driving into the paint.

Kendrick Perkins is literally one of the worst players in the league at this point. Why do people want him?

Offensive Rating: 87
Defensive Rating: 102

PER: 7.4

WS/48: .027

Box Plus/Minus: -3.4

VORP: -0.4

Brendan Haywood's advanced stats are virtually the same as Perkins's and his regular stats per 36 are probably better. That should tell you how good Perkins is.

Comparing him to Brendan Haywood who has barely played at all this season makes your point moot.

Perkins is superior in every facet of the game.

Guys, Perkins has consistently played 20 mins per game every year of his career. Here, he will only play 10 minutes a game if that. His job is when we play teams with good low-post presences, his job is to come in, rough them up, and get them off their rhythym. Remember when Aldridge was torching us? Put Perkins on him and let him get physical. Nene was eating Mozgov alive last night, but luckily nobody else did anything for Washington. Perkins can come in and play just as physical.

Plus, if Mozzy gets in foul trouble, which will happen, this won't force Tristan to play heavy minutes at center. Perkins can come in and spell Tristan at center if they have a low post threat in the game. For all the things Mozgov does well, post defense is not one of them. When he's in on offense, his job is to set a million screens for Kyrie and LeBron on pick and rolls. We know how good of a screener Mozzy is, so Perkins fits that role perfectly.

Plus, why do you think Boston and OKC held onto him so long? He is an extremely good teammate who isn't afraid to get on you. He's been through the wars, knows what it takes, and gives a veteran leader on that front line. Like Marion, he is more of a situationally used veteran, nothing more. For the vet minimum, what more do you expect?

How can Haywood have "advance stats" when he barely plays and he can barely "advance" from one side to the other side of the court? ;)

Because he allows 45% shooting at the rim, has a Defensive Box +/- of 2.1 which would be by far the best on the Cavs, is an additional 6 fouls, has playoff experience and a track record of shutting down good post players in the playoffs, doesn't require offensive touches to keep him happy, and brings a whole different level of toughness that we haven't seen with this team. We're one injury or some foul trouble away from seeing a very undersized Cavs team again.

Apparently Perkins is the worst player in the NBA yet the clippers cavs Bulls and hawks are going after him.... Hmm maybe you should reevaluate that statement. He is a good post defender and we need that. Perkins is a good backup center.
