Kendrick Perkins - Canton's Enforcer

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well Griffin is certainly crossing out a lot of items in the standard checklist for what title contenders needs outside of the superstar core:
-rim protector - check (Moz)
-irrational confidence guy - check (JR)
-defensive stopper/3&D guy - check (Shumpert)
-thug/enforcer - check (Perkins)

I am pretty excited about this move. Nobody is expecting Perkins to be in "Champion Celtics" form. He needs to come and play between 10-20 minutes per night (depending on fouls and injuries) and just be a mean SOB. He is physical defensively and is a pretty good rim protector. I think against faster, smaller teams he may play less, and I'm fine with that, but against physical big men, Perkins will get his time.

Come on son, if ur going to post tupac and ur from Cleveland, the most appropriate is his verse from thug love w bone thugs.

To help my niggas clean up some niggas no longer breathing"

Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith, Timofey Mozgov, and Kendrick Perkins all in the same damn season.

Well done GM Dan Gilb--err, David Griffin.

He's actually been a very effective rim protector even in recent years...

He was 2nd in the league last year in Opp FG% at the Rim at 42.6% and he's 5th among big men this year at 45.3%. Those numbers are helped by having Serge Ibaka playing with him but he's still up there with guys like Gobert, Bogut, Hibbert, Howard, Aldridge and Noel. You don't see those other guys getting their teammates up there so obviously Perk has something to do with.

Who remembers this team?

Edit: I can't figure out how to make the pic show without the link but it is the 1-36 Cavs!

We still don't have have the flamboyant guy that the female fans can relate to. Example: in the middle...

This is just false. Not grossly false, but categorically false. You're also only citing at the rim, when you should be citing within 10 feet, and overall defensive impact. The game has passed Perkins by in many ways. This is not the 2009 version either. The league plays with pace and spreads the floor now, which directly exposes Perkins' weakness.

In many ways, Kendrick Perkins presence actually increases shots made within 10 feets, and thats WITH maybe the best shot blocker in the league (who is also one of the best help defenders in the league) playing next to him.

Secondly, he's a huge net negative on offense. This guys is a flat out negative player.

I don't want to turn this into an analytics discussion, but just trust me that he's been the laughing stock of that community for a couple years now.

There's a reason OKC didn't even see a use for him enough to keep him as insurance. I'm fine with him being insurance only. If he gets 15 minutes a game, it's a mistake. Against a couple teams? Fine. Other than that, he should be next to Mike Miller barking like a rabid dog. That's mostly what hes useful for now.
