Chris Paul is so damned overrated. Hasn't won a thing and he's the biggest whiner/flopper in the league. He's a really good player, but there is no way I'd take him over Irving, even if they were the same age. I'd take Westbrook, Curry, and Lillard over him, too.

Let's not get carried away I hate paul probably more than anyone here. But he was a monster before his knee injury the year he won MVP (yes Kobe stole it) was just insane for a pg. After 3 years in the league for both players taking kyrie over paul would be foolish.

Chris Paul is so criticized that he's become underrated. Sure he hasn't won anything but neither have Westbrook, Curry, Wall, Kyrie, Conley, Lillard....hell any of the top point guards!

I mean he's still putting up 18 and 10 on relatively close to 50/40/90 territory and less than 2.5 turnovers a game.

He has a PER of 24.5 and a WS/48 of .238. Paul hasn't had a WS/48 below .200 since his second year in the league...that's incredible. He's so valuable to his team and the Clippers would bad without him as he controls that entire offense.

He's also statistically of the top perimeter defenders in the game today. I'm too lazy to look right now but Grantland recently released an article about defensive statistics that showed how amazing CP3 is as a perimeter defender.

Paul isn't overrated ability wise. He's overrated in the context that he doesn't get criticized as much as a guy like Melo for not doing anything of note in the playoffs

It looks like Kyrie ended up cracking the top ten of Simmons' trade value column. He's not listed in today's article and it stops at 11 with Klay Thompson. Interesting how much his opinion on Kyrie has changed since listing him in the twenties a few weeks ago when he went down the rest of his original list on ESPN.
LOL knowing Bill Simmons, Kyrie hasn't been listed yet because he's excluded altogether.

I guess where I feel Paul is overrated is national writers almost always put Paul in the top-2 PGs as a unanimous vote. That's problematic because there are players like Kyrie, Lillard, Curry, Westbrook, etc. who are playing better basketball in a variety of areas. I would agree with you, though, and I am guilty of this too, that people discount his defense, which is superb to pretty much any star PG in the NBA.

I absolutely hate Paul, with a passion. I don't think he's as good as Steph is, but it'd be absolutely foolish to still not suggest he's a top-3 point guard in the NBA.

Do I think Kyrie is better? No, not yet, different players obviously. But if the Clippers came calling offering Paul for Kyrie, I'd hang up the phone too.

I don't think anyone really overrates Paul anymore. He's no longer widely seen as the best point guard in the game, and no one talks about him being one of the truly elite players in the NBA either.

I think he's rated just fine. Definitely one of the best point guards though.

On the court I absolutely can't stand Paul but he seems like a really good dude off the court. I remember the 61 he scored in high school for his grandpa for every year of his life after he was murdered (even purposely air balled the and 1 free throw after getting 61 when 65 was the state record, and then was taken out of the game). He also takes care of his son and his family and does a lot of community work and other nice gestures like the "My Wish" meeting with cancer kids.

CP3 will be a HOF even without a ring. Has he ever been on a team that stayed bad for 2 consecutive years? Hes one of the few players who you trade for and that team will be a playoff team no matter what. Paul, and Lebron are the only ones imo

Durant?!?

James Harden?

When I went to Beachwood High School there was a History teacher who tutored Chris Paul when they were in North Carolina. It's obviously a secondary source but she said he was a hard-working, sweet guy. I also have a relative who works with Make-A-Wish who said Chris Paul goes out of his way to fill any wishes. I actually think he's a great guy.

So then give it to Anthony Davis.

But no one wants to do that, because no one wants to give it to a guy on a team that isn't good enough. What "good enough" is is different for everyone. Apparently Houston is good enough to give Harden the MVP, but New Orleans isn't.

Instead, if the statistics are dead even, I'm gonna give it to the guy who is winning more games.

Nope, because the Pelicans aren't a contender. Best player on the best team is only good if that player is clear cut best, and I am not sure Klay Thompson and Curry have that much separation. Whatever though. It's an opinion.

I wouldn't give it to Curry for the same reason I would not have given it to anyone on the Spurs last year. Best player on the best team right?

Eh, LeBron's gonna win it anyway.

So this is what I have to deal with..

this is my brother on Kyrie Irving..

"the fact is - he is an undersize shooting guard who scores very well, can dribble to his spot most of the time, can't defend 2s, poor defender of 1s, dribbles too much in 1/2 court set, still young with potential to learn to play the 1 spot. A much better version of Jeremy Lin.

Need to add poor passer, struggle with entry to post passes"

He spends every game going over why Kyrie is bad and misses the right pass into Kevin Love.

He also says Ricky Rubio is a top 5 point guard.

He is from Minnesota.
