So he didn't shoot well tonight...what do you want people to say?

Just seems to happen an awful lot, when we need for him to be The Guy. He needs to learn how to deal with the pressure, or else he's going to be a liability in the playoffs.

Love is missing a ton of wiiiiide open looks sans that Detroit game. That is the one thing that is frustrating. He is supposed to be an elite outside shooting big. Even his midrange game is sufferring.

Honestly, most of his numbers are close (basic stats) to his career averages. His shooting percentages are down, but the biggest number is that he was getting to the line at a high rate and now he doesn't.

His trips to the line in 11-12 was 8.4, 12-13 was 7.9 (injured hand this year), 13-14 was 8.4. This year its 4.9. Clearly he did a lot more damage at the free throw line before this year.

Hopefully, this can get fixed because Kevin does look disengaged at times and will either be super passive or throw up junk.
It honestly boggles me how Kevin Love's TS percentage isn't below league average when he's shooting like 44% from the field, 35% from 3, and 80% from the line. I mean I know the number of each type of shot matters but still Kyrie's a lot better in the percentages across the board yet his TS percentage isn't much better.

Neither did most people here, and anyone who tells you they watched Minnesota games is probably lying.

Watched clips of Love, mostly on YouTube, which is probably how most people have seen him. I'd say he's definitely off and it looks like a health issue if you want my honest opinion. I know the Monstars did not suck the talent from his body, that much I know. Something is probably ailing him.

Back. He looked better coming off the break but not 100% recovered. He always moves better after a couple days off and always plays poorly on the second game of a back-to-back. Not that anyone cares to take that into consideration. I doubt his back will get meaningfully better this season.

For whatever reason, Love refuses to sit like LeBron and Irving when he has physical issues. He has been at least as beat up as LeBron this season but has missed only three games, one was the eye.

When everyone is healthy, Love spaces the floor in a way that cannot be replaced. He can score the ball, so the other team can't leave him wide open. It opens up the lanes for Kyrie and Lebron. Love's place on this team is valuable as all hell, even during shooting slumps. Even when he has shit games.

My problem, and I think what many others are seeing as a problem, is the rarity at which Love is able to simply take over a game. I get that he's the third option- his numbers are bound to go down. He's not going to look like Twolves Love when LBJ and Kyrie are playing. But when he's in by himself, or when they don't dress... most of us want to see Love take over like he could in Minnesota. He has, too. But not that much.

I think Love right now is indispensable, and while I expected a bit more, I won't dare venture to say I'm disappointed. We're playing real damned well. It's just a bit frightening- he isn't stepping up in a huge way very often right now. He's playing his role. When the playoffs come, there may be times we need him to DOMINATE. He has it in him. I just want to see more signs that he can do it for us, and do it at the right times.

The reason why people are defending Love, as was said earlier in the thread, is because they are tired of other people reflexively criticizing him. It's a pretty simple cause-effect relationship.

Anytime we lose, Love will be criticized and someone will likely bring up Wiggins.

If Love puts up 19/14 (Knicks), 22/10 (Blazers), 20/11 (Nuggets) and so on and so forth it doesn't make any difference if we lose. There is a group of people who will rush to blame Love anytime we don't win. That's just how it is, and it annoys the heck out of a number of other posters.

So back and forth it goes. Another loss, cue up the Kevin Love thread and possibly the Revisiting The Trade thread.

kevin hasn't singlehandedly won us a game which I think is disappointing so far.

You know for an "all star" and all.

We wont see the best of Kevin Love until Kyrie becomes a true point guard.

Not surprised he struggled without LeBron/Kyrie. He's not the kind of guy you can just tell to take over by himself against a physical team.

The day Kyrie emerges as our main ball handler/playmaker (racking up assists) it will make life easier for LeBron and Love.

I mean without kyrie or lebron.

At Charlotte. And besides Kyrie's 55 point game, I don't think the Cavs have played a single game where an individual player has won a game...just not how basketball works.
