Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bradley especially, kid can really be special.

Lost 11-9 today to the Royals. Brian Shaw got lit up.

Maybe I'm not remembering but I can't remember a time period where the Indians had more up and coming prospects in the system than they do right now. Just to think about the prospects who have to wait... and wait some more because the position is jammed up? It seems to me we have ample ammunition for a nice trade or two to win this thing this year.

We do have a lot of talent in spots, but can you not remember the early 90's? They had HOF career type players rushing through their system, all of them with special power.

Don't get me wrong, Lindor is a very, very great prospect but he's not the package that a player like, say, Albert Belle or Manny was.

Yeah, good point. Looking at the 90's in hindsight we clearly see how those prospects turned out. Did we have the same feelings about those prospects back then as we have about our current prospects? Probably so. I don't think we can sit here and say what prospect now will become a HOF'er or a great player just like we didn't say the 90's prospects will definitely be great players at that time. I just think we have more prospects with potential now we can use in trades by the deadline to go for the Ship this year.

While I think that's fair to say we don't know how these players will turn out, Manny, Belle and Thome all had incredible power even in the minors. The Indians don't have a prospect like that right now. And I agree that we have a surplus if we need to make a move, but it's far too early to say that. I'm not even sure if we really need to make a move for anything unless Chis doesn't take the next step. Maybe a corner outfielder, but with Swisher here and Moss likely to play RF too, it's going to be hard to sit them on the bench because of contract/talent.

Let's just tell the truth here: there are no longer zero repercussions for steroid use. Thus, no, the Tribe is no longer pulling 30-40 HR guys out of the mid rounds. Thus the Tribe has to get kind of lucky and have the Fraziers and Bradleys pan. It also has to do with drafting strategy- the club shoes away from positionless power in the high rounds some time ago.

But back to Doug's original query about the prospects back then: the answer was 'maybe.' Albert had abundant power but didn't really put it all together for 4 years. Manny was a tremendous prospect from day one and was the only gimmie. Thome came out of nowhere and failed twice before he finally stuck- and at first he was a lanky, high average guy with an inside out swing who didn't pull the ball with power. And he certainly hadnt filled out. Sexson was a project up until he was dealt. Giles power exploded at I think she 24 in AA. Lofton was a toolsy guy who the Astros didn't have room for because of Steve Finley. He was also 25 when they got him n had a partial big league season on his resume. Each one of them went on to well exceed scouting opinions at the time. Make of that what you will.

Taijuan Walker is really impressive.

Carving up the Indians through three.

Carrasco has looked good as well, not quite as sharp IMO.
