Fastlane Tonight - in Cleveland!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Brock Lesnar signed deal last night with WWE and rules out MMA forever. He's a entertainer now in life and will remain one. Per Lesnar on ESPN

I think it's quite obvious who will win and why the push to make the IC and US titles more relevant with Cena and possibly Bryan holding them.

Brock is the man for this. Thank you Lesnar!

Even the builds that have worked to a degree (Rollins/Orton, Wyatt/Taker, HHH/Sting) have been pretty formulaic. Problem is, the formula is getting really stale.

Wyatt trolling the Taker out of retirement is a rehash of what Punk did last year. HHH/Sting in the old guys match. Orton takes revenge on Rollins and predictably turns on the authority. Everyone knowing the result of the title match. All pretty much by the book.

Here's hoping they have not one, but multiple twists in these matches or it's gonna be a pretty boring Mania. I hope not.

*Edit: The news about Lesnar opens up some possibilities. I hope they take advantage.

Twist #1 for me in the WWE would be to make Cena Heel and see where it takes him this time around.

Twist #2 for me would be Rollins cashing in after a match where 2 heavyweights hurt each other and Rollins thinks its a good time but only to get his ass kicked by the best in the business.

Not only does that idea make Lesnar that much dominant, but with his deal hes not losing anytime soon and Rollins isnt ready to hold the title.

Reigns is still winning

Lesnar goes over
Cena wins
Bryan wins

Hunter takes WWE back to 80s era where IC is important and defended and WWE title is rarely seen. Lesnar will reign for another two years as Hunter builds and feeds talent to him

Reigns is still winning
I dont see it happening. Especially now with his new contract which is probably a rich one. Heyman and Lesnar is gold and deserves every main event until Lesnar is done. They are the WWE.

I cant see Lesnar beating the unbeatable streak which top superstars and arguably more deserving did not get over, but only to lose vs Reigns one year later. Doesnt make sense at all, because Reigns isnt better than HBK, HHH, Punk, Edge, and ultimately Lesnar whom defeated Taker.

They had Lesnar beat the streak so Reigns' victory over him this year would be even more "impressive". Literally everything they've done in the past year has been to protect Reigns or make him look stronger.

Right, but they can't be happy or ignore the reactions he's getting. He got booed last night. Again.

And they didn't even have him talk. That's pretty bad that they have to protect him that much on the Raw before Mania.

Not to mention, it won't look good if Mania ends with the crowd booing their new top babyface as he holds up the title..

It won't look good but I don't think that Vince cares. They're forming him into the new Cena. And I realize how ridiculous it is for them to do it, because Cena was massively over as a singles competitor before they made him the face of their company. Not every Raw is held in smarky cities, so he'll still get cheers, and we'll hear Michael Cole say the typical "Love him or hate him, you have to respect him" bullshit.

They know he can't talk and this has still been the plan. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Lesnar wins, as I think he should hold the title until at least SummerSlam, or maybe into next years Mania, and have a young star who is actually liked dethrone him.

Everyone is talking about the mid-card titles being elevated with the plan of Brock continuing to be champion. My opinion is that it's more so to show how great Roman is that Bryan and Cena are holding onto those titles and not even messing with him. Those guys are going to need something to do while Reigns is running through every single top heel during his inevitable 300+ day reign as champion.

One way I can accept Reigns winning is Heyman betraying Lesnar and going with Reigns as heels.

Clean just doesn't set well with me because Reigns sucks.

But here is a wild thought, Wrestlemania may be going to Dallas and Stone Cold may be talked into doing what drove him away in the first place, Austin/Brock but this time, an actual buildup.

I can settle for a Rock/Brock but Austin did say if the time and place was right he'll consider a match.

It looks like Brock/Rock is pretty likely. I think Austin will wrestle too, but I don't think Brock and his assortment of german suplexes would be great for Austin's neck lol

@elcheato You make some good points, but do they really want to pull the "Cena card" (you have to respect him, etc) this early in his big run? Fans will just get sick of him that much more & that much more quickly.

IMO, there's no way Reigns wins the title & comes out of WrestleMania a face. One or the other, but not both.

No chance Paul turns on Brock. Lesnar, honestly, can't talk either, but unlike Reigns, dude can fucking work.

My wet dream is Lesnar keeps the belt long enough for Steen. There's something so amazing about Steen on the mic that him/Heyman would actually warrant tuning in. How many live segments did Reigns speak during on his build to becoming the "new Cena"? Two? A line a piece? No thank you.

I think the WWE just has to realize Reigns isn't the guy right now. Honestly, the one guy that can replace Cena is super face is Daniel Bryan. His popularity is insane. I don't think there has been someone so universally loved since Michaels in his prime. But Vince's beefcake WWE is never going to let that happen. Top faces need to know how to talk. I don't even know how Reigns made it this far. After the little bit of progress he made when the Shield disbanded, he got injured and just worked out the whole time? You know you're awful when your pretaped messages are shit... Meanwhile all the hard workers are given the big FU. I'm looking forward to this Wrestlemania. I'm excited that Brock decided to stay and hope he's on a more frequent contract including all PPVs. I really hope the ladder match isn't terrible. I kind of want it to close the show.

They'd obviously prefer for him to be unanimously cheered, but that is never going to happen now. They've invested a lot into this guy, and they've already planted the seeds for the "Cena card". Reigns has said on air that every fan has the right to their opinion (although in an interview not conducted with the WWE, when asked about Daniel Bryan chants during his segments, he did say that fans should shut up when he is talking). They have him pinned as the underdog trying to overcome the odds, despite being also called "The Power House" and "The Big Dog". Does anyone in the world actually believe a guy who looks like Reigns is an underdog in anything? It's the same non-sense with Cena "overcoming the odds" despite being 250 pounds of straight muscle, but alas that is what they're doing with Reigns. I really can't see them turning him heel, because that just cancels everything they've attempted to do with him since his debut, and it also signifies they don't believe in him and this was all a mistake.

Reigns made it this far because they've thought out everything to try to get him over, and it was working until they started giving him more mic time. If they tried as hard as they did when it came to Reigns with other stars, this company would be in much better shape. But they don't, and in this case they did it with the wrong guy.

They debuted Reigns with two well known indie wrestlers who are both fantastic, in a stable. They knew this stable would get over given the talent on it, and they knew they could have Roman labeled as the power house who would rarely talk, and rarely be over exposed in matches. Ambrose could carry them on the mic, and Rollins & Ambrose could carry them in the ring collectively. Naturally, fans are going to be intrigued by the good looking power house who beats the shit out of people, who they don't know much about. After they disbanded, Reigns was the one who kept the Shield attire, entrance, and theme, because all of that stuff was considered "over" as entities. When you saw Roman, you would think of the Shield, a group everyone loved. They committed to making him the "face of the company" sooner than they were going to I think, because of the rumble reaction with Batista where they didn't realize that his cheer was more about them wanting anyone but Batista to win. However, they did it without fans seeing Reigns as a singles competitor, and they clearly have not liked what they've seen out of him. Also, just to point out some other things. His random loss to Big Show on a Raw after Rollins interference a month or so ago was his first singles match loss in the WWE. And I think he was the first person to kick out of the running knee, and I assume no one has ever kicked out of his spear. The one heel commentator never says a bad thing about him and Paul Heyman and Daniel Bryan have been giving verbal blow jobs to the guy for weeks

That is how he made it this far. Over protective and incredibly strong booking. The Shield was created to get him over, which is most evident by the fact that the two other guys from the group, who are both better than him are lower on the card.
