JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well you're wrong.

Look at the second view and pause it when he's about to make contact. It's clearly a fist.

If you see his hand in the aftermath, it wasn't a closed fist. It was a limp hand, which is a natural resting hand position.

Charles, Shaq, Kenny and anybody else claiming this was so egregious that it deserves a 5-10 games supsension is out of their minds.

Players have been suspended for 65 games this year.

Only 5 were for more than one game. All of those were for violating the Drug Policy or pleading guilty to crimes.

All the rest were 1 game suspension, including but not limited to.

Marcus Smarts nut punching Matt Bonner.

James Harden's ball kick on Bron.

Shaun Livingston nut punching Dirk.

Joel Freeland head butting Livingston.

All of those happened within the last month.

JR will be suspended for one game. We will see him in game two.

Exactly! The only guy suspended for conduct on the court since 2010 for more than 5 games was Ron Artest for his blatant elbow of James Harden. He got 7 games

Andrew Bynum got 5 games(reduced to 4) for about killing JJ Barea in obvious frustration.

Charlie Villanueva got 5 games(reduced to 4) for his fight with Ryan Hollins in which he threw a ball punch, a rib blow and even then he only got 5 games for going berserk after he got thrown out and then tried to enter our locker room.

Dexter Pittman got 3 games for looking at Lance Stephenson and clotheslining him elbow first.

Rajon Rondo got 2 games for a flat out brawl with Kris Humphries that ended up in the stands.

Kevin Love got 2 games for stepping on Luis Scola's face.

and there's a few more 2 game suspensions from Jason Smith(flagrant on Blake Griffin), Demarcus Cousins(confrontation with Spurs broadcaster), Thomas Robinson(elbow to Jonas Jerebko's neck), Larry Sanders(started an altercation and refused to leave the court), Rajon Rondo(throwing a ball at the ref), Quentin Richardson(fighting Gerald Henderson), Andrew Bynum(flagrant on Michael Beasley), Marvin Williams(altercation with shawn Williams), Brian Cook(flagrant foul) and Ryan Hollins(punching DeShawn Stevenson and hitting Dirk Nowitzki).

That's it for guys with multi-game suspensions. I didn't watch all of them but every one I did watch was worse than JR's foul. I would say he should get just the ejection or a 1 game suspension based on precedent but 2 would be the absolute max. Anything beyond that would be ridiculously unprecedented. I'm betting he gets 1 game.

Guys I'll defend my Cavs players to the death but this is not something I'll defend. What Smith did was careless and dirty. I don't think it's as dirty as what Olynyk did, but I think it deserves a suspension nonetheless.

I understand that it was an open fist after the hit, but before he made contact his fist was clearly closed. I'm looking at a paused frame on my monitor at the moment (yes, HD) and it's clearly clenched in a punching backward motion. I don't know what else to say.

I guess agree to disagree.

But that's because Crowder doesn't know how to fall. And as other people mentioned, the play wouldn't have even happened if they called one of the multiple fouls by Crowder on the play. The frustration foul by Smith was stupid, but Crowder has been talking shit, fouling hard and in general being a piece of shit.

I think the best example for how inconsistent these refs have been were two plays in the game today. The first was Thomas driving at Kyrie. Hard foul by Kyrie but was easy to see it wasn't a flagrant, yet it went to review. On the other end, Delly gets hammered after a pump fake and nothing. Not a second thought. It's just shitty that the league allowed the continuous dirty play by Boston while everyone is saying things like "you gotta give it up to Boston, they fought." No... They got the benefit of the doubt on at least 2/3 of the calls. You can only poke the bear so many times before he bites back.

Yeah, I was amazed noone brought up the Thomas foul on Delly. He was vertical but then came down with both arms onto Delly's head/neck area after landing from getting pumpfaked. I thought it definitely was worth a look and probably should have been a flagrant 1. Of course, Hubie and Mike made Tommy Heinsohn seem objective by comparison today.

He will get a one game suspension, we will persevere and it will be forgotten. But I just hope he is smarter than that going forward.

What I'm going to agree with is that he intended to hit Crowder. It does deserve a suspension, but it doesn't look like it was intended to do the damage it did.

I hate to say it... but it's probably gonna be at least 3 games

Ive seen countless players of the year Clear out after somebody pushes them in the back hard enough to impact their movement. JR was playing on the ball he had no idea how high or how low crowder was only that he was behind him. He probably didnt care.
Crowder could of injured Jr doing that shit. you cant let guys get away with that stupid move or not.

It was definitely a flagrant 2 but the play is being overblown. Anything over a 1 game suspension is unwarranted.

you can slow mo all you want. closed fist open hand it doesnt matter. Crowder had lost the benefit of the doubt on the previous 2 plays.

Let him live.

The team needs to focus on who they have for game 1 of the chicago series and go kick their ass not worry about who cant or isnt playing. Guys just need to step up and get the job done. That will be the mentality of the team should be the mentality of the fans as well

No way this is more than 1 game. NO WAY! 1 playoff game means as much as 10 regular season games. He will more than likely miss Game 1, but Silver would have to deem this to be in extreme cold blood for it to be any more severe than that.

I'm willing to put a $10 donation to this site on him getting more than 1 game.

The way he was standing, pushing JR, it was completely his fault he got injured the way he did. If he wasn't pushing on JR's back trying to get him out of rebounding position and fouling him, he wouldn't be in this position. Any fall he suffered from that position would have been an injury.

Basically, the bitch flopped and buckled his own leg.

And it's Odin Lloyd fault he's dead the hell kind of explanation is that.
