So Long, Mo Gotti Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For all my love of Delly, he's basically a 3-D player.

Not even 3-D, He's all Hustle and D - Baby Varejao.

As for Mo Gotti - Hell yeah I want him back....just don't forget that he likes to catch ghost in a 7 game series.

Mo Williams was always meant to be a 6th man all along on a contending team. During his first go around. I used to say that's what he is, he's not a starter.

I got bashed and seen as a Mo hater, that was so far from it. I've always been a huge fan of his. I just never saw Mo as a starter on a contender.

His defense has always been a liability, but it's something you can hide coming off the bench.

He's instant offense, he's a deadly shooter. I think he's a more reliable shooter than JR personally. I don't recall Mo missing a high volume of open shots during his tenure in Cleveland. He's a much more consistent three point threat.

Mo was money, he was above 40 percent from 3 during his Cavs tenure playing with LeBron.

His three point shooting percentage was never as high when playing with LeBron for a reason.

He's a deadly spot up shooter, who can shoot off the dribble, but excels at making defenses pay off the double team.

So naturally Mo's three point shooting has taken a dive since then. A more recent dive given he's played on horrendous teams, with players no defenses fear.

If he came back, I'd expect his three point percentage to rise back up near the 40% mark.

He'd be by far playing on the best offensive team he's ever been a part of.

JR can be instant offense, but he's really the only instant offense we have coming off the bench. And as we know, JR is not always going to be money off the bench. Sometimes he's capable of giving you nothing.

We need another player making guard that can create some offense for others, and can be deadly from the perimeter.

Name me three guys in that department, within the price range we'll be spending that we can get better than Mo in free-agency.

Do you remember that stretch in the 09-10 season (I think) when we won 10 straight with Boobie starting at PG while Mo was injured? I wish Mike Brown would have had the brain/balls to keep that starting lineup and bring Mo off the bench (when he came back from injury) for instant offense. I honestly think it was our best rotation... Ugh... That team was RIGHT there with Orlando. If not for some ridiculous 3 point shooting, we could have beaten the Lakers that year for the 'ship.

Absolutely agree godfather. Unless a miracle were to happen (like Wade taking the MLE) then there is nobody available for the mini MLE that is better than Mo for this team.

We need a player that can give Kyrie 15 minutes off a game, and that can shoot the ball well. His defense is the only down side. I have no illusions that he will learn defense in his 30's.

Just like Varejao I expect his shot to get better with time.

He shot 40.7% from 3 in the regular season. He just didn't have a good playoffs when he was probably tired from playing way more minutes than he did in the regular season.

...pfft, such a Mo Gotti hater.

Still the best Cavaliers memory of the 'Losing Era' for me:

After that mean block, Mo's 3 gave me shivers, and Fred's commentary just caps it off for me. Must admit, would be incredibly nostalgic to hear The Godfather theme playing after hitting a big 3 once again.

That ball will never be the same! (get a new line already Fred)

The Mavericks are looking to fortify their backcourt and are interested in unrestricted free agents Danny Green and Wesley Matthews, Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News reports. Their ability to sign either of those players could hinge on whether they are able to reel in one of their two primary frontcourt targets, DeAndre Jordan or LaMarcus Aldridge, Sefko continues, since they might not be able to afford two high-salaried free agents. The Mavs have a better shot at landing Jordan instead of Aldridge, which would ensure the departure of unrestricted free agent center Tyson Chandler. Another possible target is point guard Mo Williams, who lives in the Dallas area, Sefko adds.

At point guard, Mo Williams is probably the most likely target. He lives in the Dallas area and has been linked with the Mavericks in the past, only to sign elsewhere.

COMMENT: This is a little odd in that Dallas has only 4 players under contract for next year and two of them are PGs (Harris and Felton).

Somewhat related news, it was reported New Orleans extended the $3M QO to Norris Cole.
