2016 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So with Goff we could get a good game manager, not necessarily a game changer. With Lynch we could get a game changer or a a draft bust ?

This could be a deep draft again for WRs so even if we miss out on the top 4, we could still get some good ones in round 3 or 4. Hopefully whoever is making the picks will get us our qb and then add some weapons for him.

WHAAAA ? No Linesmen ?

Those 2 will have to be our #1 pick. Otherwise, we will have to trade back into the 1st to grab one. Which isn't an ideal situation for a WR. :conf (11):
Josh Gordon will be coming back next year so I wouldnt make WR a priority but i would take one or two in the later rounds.

What shape will he be in when he comes out ? He has been out of the game for so long it may take half a season for him just to get into game mode.

Plaxico Burress did alright his first season back after missing 2 years. Players miss the majority of seasons all the time due to injury. The only thing that will hold Gordon back is his peanut brain.

Current draft order before MNF:

1. Cleveland Browns: 2-8 (.514 strength of schedule)
2. Tennessee Titans: 2-7 (.465 SOS)
3. Baltimore Ravens: 2-7 (.507 SOS)
4. San Diego Chargers: 2-7 (.513 SOS)
5. Dallas Cowboys: 2-7 (.524 SOS)
6. Detroit Lions: 2-7 (.531 SOS)
7. Jacksonville Jaguars: 3-6 (.440 SOS)
8. San Francisco 49ers: 3-6 (.532 SOS)
9. Houston Texans: 3-5 (.493 SOS)
10. New Orleans Saints: 4-6 (.444 SOS)

WALTER FOOTBALL (Charlie Campbell):

1. Lynch - QB Memphis

To me, Lynch looks like an upgraded version of Blake Bortles as a prospect. In 2015, Lynch has completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,014 yards with 19 touchdowns and two interceptions. His arm can make all the throws for the pro game, but he also has displayed the ability to pass accurately and beat good coverage with precise completions into tight windows. Additionally, Lynch has the athleticism to make plays with his feet and throw on the run. His draft stock is rising after leading Memphis, which is 8-1 so far this season, to an upset over Ole Miss.

2. Corey Coleman - WR Baylor

The 5-foot-11 (this is what I do not like. We need another tall WR. But he does run really nice routes & has a very quick burst), 190-pound Coleman is said to run the 40-yard dash in the 4.3s, and he could be the top speed receiver for the 2016 NFL Draft. Less than halfway through the year, Corey Coleman set a school record for touchdown catches in a single season. He has 47 receptions for 962 yards and 18 touchdowns so far in 2015. As a sophomore, Coleman totaled 64 catches for 1,119 yards and 11 touchdowns.

3. Jordan Jenkins - OLB Georgia

Jenkins is a tough, physical defender who isn't a great pass-rusher, but he can contribute to both phases. In 2015, Jenkins has 33 tackles with 8.5 for a loss, three sacks and a forced fumble. He recorded 70 tackles with five sacks as a junior. There was a lot of hype about Jenkins (6-3, 252) entering the 2013 season, when he totaled 45 tackles, five sacks, 12 tackles for a loss and a forced fumble.

Bleacher:

(Titans picking #1)

2. Lynch - QB Memphis (Goff fell to #8 to Houston)

Johnny Manziel's opportunities have been limited, but he's done very little to demonstrate that he's the long-term answer in Cleveland.

Presumably, Mike Pettine and his staff will give Manziel an opportunity to win the job in the final weeks of the season; if he fails to show dramatic improvement, the team will be forced to look closely at the quarterbacks in this draft class.

Paxton Lynch and Jared Goff are at the top of the class, and a case can be made for either to be the first off the board.

Assuming the Browns front office remains intact, some of the same qualities that attracted them to Manziel could draw them to Lynch.

Lynch has the mobility and awareness to create plays out of nothing, but he also has the ability to make plays within the pocket, which Manziel seems to lack.

So far the Browns have had a scout at Memphis this season and wasn't there also a report about them looking into Connor Cook too? I wish I had faith in Farmer to draft the right quarterback. I think I've read on here that he had Carr, Teddy, Manziel ranked in that order and that he randomly (or Jimmy) picked Johnny. This could be the year we actually are drafting high enough to get a good QB prospect. I dont care if its Goff or Lynch. I just want one of them to be drafted by the Browns.

None of those QBs ever had a +3.3 PFF grade like a current Browns QB has shown he can do.

Might be time to draft the future left tackle instead.

That can't be his real last name...

You be the judge!

I cant believe people want to use another first round pick on QB's that are just a gamble, particularly Lynch. The same people screaming for the browns to draft him will be the ones screaming to have him cut if half way through the season if he hasn't proven he's an absolute stud. they're the same people that wanted Manziel. we have more holes to fill then QB on this team. I'd rather take a sure bet, in a guy like Bosa to help defend the rush and pressure the QB.

I wish i could find an article i read earlier this year that broke it down even into the further rounds cause you're statistically not even that much better off drafting a qb early, but this shows even the first round is a 50/50 gamble http://www.cleveland.com/datacentral/index.ssf/2015/04/success_for_quarterbacks_picke.html

it's frustrating how short sighted many browns fans are. i'm sure i'll be berated for this opinion because QB is the most important position in the NFL but unless someone distinguishes themselves as the next Andrew Luck i'd rather gamble in the later rounds.

Oh are they?

If the QB is 50-50 in the early rounds, what's it like in the later rounds?

What's the success rate for defensive lineman in the early? Probably 50-50 or so.

It's not about some magic number in a success rate over a large sample, it's about making the best pick for your team and having the development system to support them regardless of position.

Should they not take CBs anymore because Gilbert hasn't played to the level of a 1st rounder? Is OL out because of Erving?

The Browns struggle so bad with the draft, should they deal all their picks since they're operating at far less than 50-50?

Yes, it will save me a ton of agony every year.
