2015 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think ND deserves to be in the top-4 either. I don't think they'll beat Stanford either way though.

I feel a little better after what Urban & Zeke said today...but we'll see.

Go Penn State.

I hate to say it but I have a bad feeling about this game. OSU has the talent to win without question. But, I feel the Wolverines are far more motivated. OSU has been embarrassing them for years. This was always going to be a tough game even with OSU at their best. They seem too fractured to play at their best Saturday

On an unrelated note, I think I have to swear off OSU message boards, other than this one. Good god, the craziness after that loss.

OSU is 48-4 under Meyer, yet you'd think OSU fans are the most cursed in sports. WE LOST ONE GAME...GET OVER IT.

It's not so much the loss. It is not only how/why they lost, but moreso what was lost in the loss.

Barring a miraculous win by Penn State, we lost everything by losing that game. So yeah, it pretty much sucks.

It's funny how things work. Last year we lose by 14 to a garbage Virginia Tech team, and go on to be National Champions. This year we lose on a last second FG to a top 10 team in the shittiest weather ever, and the season is over.

Which would be fine if I read a lot of "Well this sucked, but it's been a great ride, and we'll be back soon".

More of "How could our coaches be so stupid and all our players suck? This program will never recover from this."

That happens after wins, too.

Fans are the worst, but the blame for this loss can pretty squarely be pinned on some egregious mistakes by the staff.

Some people take it so far because they're overly emotional, but yeah...definitely avoid message boards after stuff like that.

The dumbest are generally the most vocal in opposition after a loss.

I feel like this board doesn't do that, Cavs or otherwise, but maybe I have just gotten good at ignoring/avoiding the threads/posters that do that here.

If PSU can't beat MSU, then whatever. We were not going to go undefeated for years to come. We were going to lose eventually. Don't people know how hard it is to go back-to-back?

There is still a glimmer of hope to make it. But chances are slim. I am just hoping we beat UX and win our bowl game. Still kind of go out on top and win a top bowl game. Still have an awesome recruiting class coming in. Everything will be fine.

Not looking good for the OC, though

Side note, I ate 2 Fat Bitches from PJ's Saturday night and finally shit this morning at work. It was epic.

Oh I agree, the "sky is falling" takes are outrageous. OSU isn't going anywhere. Gonna be winning 10+ games every year for the forseeable future.

That loss may have killed this season but it doesn't kill the future at all.

The loss on Saturday was one of the worst, if not THE worst, Buckeye games I've seen since I started watching football in 2001. Not because they lost, but because of how they lost... At home, against a team they supposedly had circled on their calendar all year who was without Connor Cook, and with so much at stake.

To this point this Buckeyes team has been a colossal disappointment this year, but honestly what do you expect when you have 18-22 year old kids coming off a National Title win and being told by everyone that they are head and shoulders better than any other team in the country. Throw in the injuries at WR suffered this season, the regression of an o-line that returned 4 of 5 starters, and just a lack of a killer instinct... this loss was months in the making. They've got by on sheer talent and not much else all season long. The only 2 games that felt reminiscent of last season's run were the VaTech and Rutgers games. We waited and waited but the light never switched on. Some of it comes down to player execution, but Tim Beck was a hire I felt was a head scratcher ever since he was introduced back in the spring. Just a very underwhelming hire even at the time considering we were the top team in the country coming off a Championship. Our standards should be higher than an average coach like him. Hopefully he's fired, Warriner is demoted back to line coach, and we find someone better to call plays.

Also, as much as I love this group of players that are on their way out, I'm looking forward to seeing a hungrier group of Buckeyes next year. This whole season has just left a lot to be desired and I really think it just came down to not being hungrier and not wanting it more than they did last year. Which, I guess that's just human nature. It's so hard to repeat in sports, especially at the collegiate level, which is why it's almost never done anymore.

All of that being said, and I realize most of it is negative... I'm nowhere near ready to say the sky is falling and write off this entire season as a failure just yet. Beating Michigan and going to a NY6 Bowl would right many wrongs from this year, at least in my eyes. However, losing to Michigan and ending up in the Citrus Bowl would make this the most disappointing Urban Meyer team in his 4 years here, by far. And quite honestly, even with those things happening, it still could be the most disappointing. But that is saying a lot about how good he's been..

  • 2012, undefeated 12-0 season coming off a 6-7 campaign, but postseason sanctions held them out of the B1G Title and Bowl game.
  • 2013, undefeated regular season but lost B1G Title game and Orange Bowl. However, talent level (especially on defense) was not as high as this year's team. Beat Michigan though and the offense was at least fun to watch.
  • 2014, undisputed National Champions, can't do much better than that.
Hopefully that loss humbled some of the guys and they come out angry and kick Michigan's ass. It's the only way to salvage this season.

EDIT: One last silver lining... if the Buckeyes were going to implode with the conference and playoffs on the line... I would've much rather it happened against Sparty than TTUN. At least by losing that game on Saturday it also cock blocked TTUN from getting into the B1G Title Game and somehow slipping into the playoffs had they won, as well as giving the Buckeyes the opportunity to redeem themselves against their biggest rival a week later. That is a small victory in itself.

I agree as long as Urban Meyer is coaching. He and Saban are probably the two best coaches in college football. I was disappointed as well but then I think I'm sure glad this program hasn't fallen like Nebraska or Penn State and even the Wolverines for the last 6 years or so. OSU fans have got it good.
