I think this situation is pretty hilarious. Now, the Celtics are the ones forced to make a deal to move their point guard

The thing is IT can leverage a trade if it's void not just because he is in the last year of his contract but he can elect to have surgery.

I'm not sure if that's realistic considering it's his contract year

His agent can spin it as he is doing it for his long term health and so he won't have to the problem again. IT's loyalty to the Celtics has gone out the window and they hurt his earning potential with this be aired out to the public and another team.

Woj on tv: they'll be discussing all night until early morning how to fix the trade... They might go back and ask for more draft picks

Boston is fucked in the IT situation. I doubt he will want to play for them (meaning he'll opt for surgery if he stays), and I also doubt someone else would take his injured ass now.

If they go the route of picks over asking for Tatum or Brown, I feel like we need to ask for Marcus Smart or Terry Rozier back. If we take a broken IT we need PG depth.
Rozier + Lakers pick works for me.

As much as I like Smart's game we really need someone capable of making a 3 from the PG spot not named Jose Calderon. Neither are great shooters, but I think Rozier has been shooting upside.

I don't think we will get both picks but maybe something like the best of the Lakers or Brooklyn picks and some other 1st round pick.

I would be fine with replacing IT with Smart and Brown. Smart, Brown, Crowder, Zizic, BKN pick. That's still a decent haul. No stars there but it provides a lot of help in areas we need. Smart is the defensive PG with size to pair with Rose and Brown gives us another young player with potential for if Lebron leaves, while being ready to contribute right away. If not then he is a very tradeable asset.

He is not saying that he will be out 3-4 months. At all.

He's saying that it's been 3-4 months since his last game and he may not be ready to start opening night.

Which we already knew was a possibility.

But definitely not saying new info that he will miss 3-4 months starting from now. He's dealt wit and played with the hip issues for years and while it's certainly not ideal, what McMenamin said is being drastically misrepresented by @cavsfever (not saying intentionally or anything)

You are right that I was definitely not saying he was going to miss 3-4 months of the season, I was referring to the 3-4 months of offseason between the last time he played and opening day. That's why I said 3-4 months of "offseason rehab". Thought I was clear about that, apologies if it was confusing

In that instance, the extra pick(s) would probably go to Phoenix to take Thomas. I have hard time thinking Phoenix would be okay with dumping Bledsoe's salary straight up without added incentive

This looks highly viable and would be an absolute coup for us. I would rather have Bledsoe at PG and we still get the BKN pick and Crowder.

I would take Brown over IT all day... I think he is gonna be a very good player...could be an excellent 3 and D player at the least in a year or so and a slasher and D asset until then

I also think it's a realistic option because whatever the Celtics have to give us at this point probably isn't close to what they have to give Phoenix to take IT.
