2018 Draft Prospects Thread

Not sure there is a player I’ve cooled on more than Saquon Barkley.

His inability to find success between the tackles is an enormous red flag. His running style simply isn’t conducive to what the Browns need.

And the value he provides at 4 is a non starter from a needs-based talent perspective.

There are far better options, and better fits later in the draft who will have more success running behind he Browns offensive line.

Kerryon Johnson would be the top back on my board for Cleveland.

With so many quality backs in this class - it’s possible seven backs go in the top 100 picks - I wouldn’t burn the 4th pick on a running back either.

Especially with four other top 100 picks AFTER the first round.

I agree Ward is a better CB...but those of us on the Minkah train want to play him at FS.

Not sure I can get on board taking a guy 4th overall and playing him 32 yards off the ball.

But that’s a subject for a different thread, I guess.

In any event, if I’m moving Fitzpatrick from what he’s doing now I’d play him at corner and try and turn him into Jalen Ramsey.

Welcome back, and the Minkah Movement will still be just fine without you. Ward is a nice corner, still can get bodied up by a physical receiver but he's the best corner in this draft.

Minkah though? That's a hell of a plug and play free safety. I think the Alabama corners have been overrated and Minkah cleans up a lot of their mess.

He’s not playing free safety at Alabama, thus he isnt cleaning up any mess on behalf of their corners.

He’s been playing in the slot this entire season, and making less of an impact than he has in prior years at corner.
 
Question for the Minkah Krew...

QBs go 1-2 and then the Colts break hearts and go Fitzpatrick 3.

Then what?

Ward? B. Chubb?

Maurice Hurst
Denzel Ward
Bradley Chubb

All four of these guys will be Pro Bowlers.

And that's a credit to his versatility, frankly.

Isn't that what a free safety HAS to play against an 11 or 22 set on offense? Teams try to spread Alabama out and he takes the slot guy. His play against the run hasn't suffered from it at all.
 
Someone correct me if I’m wrong here...

There’s a reasonable amount of projection with Fitzpatrick transitioning to NFL free safety because he hasn’t played there all THAT much, yes?

He was a cornerback as a freshman.

Played corner again as a sophomore until Eddie Jackson got hurt, then slid over to free safety for the final seven games (and did really well).

And has pretty much played nickel exclusively this year.

Ward for me. Think he could be a top 10 CB right away and it's a position desperately needed.

I wonder what the list of free agents at FS looks like...

If the Browns spend the fourth pick on a defensive lineman without some serious free agency investments in the six or seven positions where they are EMBARRASSINGLY Canadian Football League in talent level, you won't want to read my posts the rest of the summer.
