2019 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why does get to be tier 2?

If you can consider there is a real top 5 then we must finish last to guarantee a top 5

Looks about right.

Missing Romeo Langford from Indiana, hasn't shot well from 3 yet but that will come Should be in that second tier. Personally I think his handles, IQ, athletic ability, length and jumper put him in the top 5 come draft time.

Thought about it...I actually asked @3 Ball...GOT IT about him the other day, and got this response:

Langford I don't like as much, so it's still up in the air for my opinion on him. He plays a pretty low-efficient game on offense with the types of shots he takes... and he's a much worse shooter than I think people realize. I think he was around 30% in HS or worse, but I could be wrong. Reddish gets a lot of hate for playing lackadaisical, but Langford is right there with him if not worse. I don't have a feel for him on defense yet cus I've not watched enough, but he'll always have the decent tools to fall back on.

Just one man's opinion, I know, but assuming that's anywhere near accurate I figure it's fair to wait for him to prove his shooting ability or show some other kind of elite skill before I include him in that 3rd tier. 1/7 from 3 and 6/14 from the line so far is scary.

Ugh. Why do people have to do this.
To have bias for their prospect. Tear one down to uplift another one.

You saw it last year with Ayton. It’s happening again with Barrett.

Please tell me we are getting one of these top 3 kids.

USC-Vandy is a great game for draft junkies. I love Darius Garland’s game. Perfect for today’s NBA offensively. Would take him easily over Grimes and Langford. Would consider Kevin Porter over both as well.

Jinxed the shit out of Garland lol.

Lol right he hasn't done anything since I posted that. But still, he does everything I'd want out of a PG offensively for the most part. Just needs to stop treating every game like an AS setting and he'll be tough to stop.

Just watched Lebron's first game when he was the same age as Zion was now. No comparison. Williamson much more athletic much biigger and a better shooter.

I really wish LeBron had gone to college.

He got dropped in to the NBA out of high school and immediately went for 20/5/5.

LeBron would have averaged 40 a game in college.

Much more athletic than 19 year old LeBron?

Do people seriously have memories this short? Look how fluid of an athlete LeBron was.....these are NBA players that look stuck in the mud against a 19 year old kid.

Play at :38 seconds is just next level athleticism. He catches the lob on a dead sprint, has to duck his head so he doesn't clothesline himself on the rim, adjusts his body to the under-thrown lob and two hand reverses.

Or at 1:57, he windmills from beyond the dotted line, in a game. Head at or only a few inches below the rim.

Block at 2:20......LOL.

Zion is much more athletic than LeBron. Good grief guys. We're all better than this. I won't even get in to the shooting take. Athleticism is not just straight line or stand still jumping ability. It's way, way more than that. It's how you change direction, start and stop, elevate off of both feet, elevate with contact or through traffic. Zion is not on LeBron's level in the functional athleticism category, with the ball in his hands. LeBron was otherworldly changing direction, reacting to the defense, finishing over length and contact.

I haven't watched LeBron rookie tape in a while but it does honestly remind you of Barrett........not in athletic skill, because LeBron was in a class by himself for point forward types but because of his finishing variety. He had the NBA arsenal at 19, much like Barrett does. LeBron was just insane developmentally though.......not only was he the best athlete but he was also the most advanced with the ball at his age as well. Just not fair.

Trying to put together a top-15 or so...who else belongs in Tier 3? Does anyone in Tier 3 belong in Tier 2 or vice versa? Don't even bother asking about Tier 1...Zion's got it on lockdown until further notice.

Tier 1: Zion

Tier 2: Bol, Little, Reddish, Barrett

Tier 3: Johnson, Grimes, Reid, McDaniels, Hoard, Porter, Garland

In your dream scenario of drafting Zion (let's say)..is he at the 3 or the 4? If he sticks at the 4...that'd be a log jam with Kevin Love and Larry Nance jr..or is Nance jr. our future center?

I'm still going with Barrett as my lock pick and in tier one. I will make my tiers list after my shift is done in 3 hours.

Barrett is one of the best 5-7 wing prospects of the last 12ish years. To me, he's a tier 1 player.

Or It's Tier1A - Zion, Tier2A - Barrett. But Barrett, to me, is a markedly better prospect than the other guys in tier2.

Or is your grading system that only 1 guy occupies Tier 1?

I don't think the LeBron comparisons do Zion any favors other than pure explosive burst. What made 'Bron so great wasn't just the fact that he was an 18 year old child with the body of a greek deity. It was that his incredible physical gifts were paired with genius level basketball IQ and court vision. Zion is an 18 year old with the body of an NFL defensive tackle, who has also shown a good skillset in terms of court vision and attacking the rim off the bounce. The comparison stops there, they're different players with vastly different skillsets and physical attributes.

Well, the whole point of tiers in my mind is that I'll use fit to decide between players within a tier, but i'll always pick a tier 1 guy over a tier 2 guy, etc.

I definitely envision Zion playing exclusively in the frontcourt though.

I typically think of Tier 1 as a guy I'd take #1 overall in at least 50% of all drafts, tier 2 as a more "typical" mid-high lottery guy who could go #1 in a draft with no clear outstanding prospect.

I personally don't think Barrett is a markedly better player than Little/Reddish/Bol. I might've had Barrett a touch above Reddish going into the season, but Reddish has put up better numbers so far, so that's a wash for me at this point. Little's probably a better defender than either of them, and he's shown more on offense than I expected so far. Bol will always be a divisive prospect, but I like the "unicorn potential" he has with his combination of size and skill. I need to watch him more, but I can imagine him ending up anywhere from Tier 1 to Tier 3 on my board pretty easily.
