I like him. I think he's genuine. His "holier than thou" comes across like a shtick but I think it's just who he is.
It's amazing that Clemson identified him as "the guy" when he had no coordinator experience. He was promoted from WR coach to Head Coach, based on his charisma alone, basically. He was an elite recruiter and motivator. The guy is humble enough to stay out of the way of his coordinators and in many respects, may be the reason he gets them to stay so long. It's ridiculous Brett Veneables isn't a HC somewhere, and that Tony Elliot and Jeff Scott are seemingly happy with their co-offensive coordinator positions.
For years the rub on him, as an OSU fan, was how he negatively recruited against Meyer and staff........saying he (Meyer) would leave the program at any moment (which ended up being true but under a different context), and that position coaches wouldn't last their 4 years at the school (which is accurate at most Power 5 programs). But they've got the secret sauce right now. HC who isn't going anywhere, and a staff seemingly content to stay in their roles. Combine that with Ostirine, and you've got a helluva fighting Tiger.
