That's a big step when we're talking about someone who's been hurt as much as Kerry Wood.

I changed the title so as not to jinx this. I really like this for the Tribe if it goes down. But I hope we're not done with just this signing. We need to figure out the shortstop problem too.

It's really either a SS or 2B problem since Cabrera can play 2nd or SS...

Agreed, I'm just assuming we put Asdrubal over at second but you are correct. And thankfully they already have Peralta brushing up on his 3B skills in winter ball right now.

When will he be out for the season is my question. Before the season starts? Or 2 months in? If he doesn't get hurt, this is a good signing. I just looked at his stats and they aren't that great. I thought he was lights out last year, but I guess not. It will be nice to have a closer that can throw over 85 mph though.

This is not an "okay signing". It's a GREAT signing...if he stays healthy. Which is a big if, but it's a low risk high reward signing that could solidify this bullpen and turn it back into one of the best. Look at Wood's numbers. He is very good when he's healthy.

With our luck though he'll be on the DL in a week. Hehehe

34 saves, 18 walks to 84 Ks isn't great?

Have any of you guys seen Kerry Wood pitch? He is the real deal, trust me. He just has to stay healthy which will be the main concern. If he does, you guys will be VERY happy with him.

Agreed 100%. KWood was sick last year. For the price, this is a great and uncharacteristic move by Shapiro. Low risk, HUGE reward

As for Furcal, I'd pass that quicker that a blunt full of brown frown. His back = your 2008 CLeveland Browns

Apparently there's been positive news about Peralta at third during the offseason, so getting a SS or 2B basemen to move him and fix our infield problem would be great.

Based on his stats, I didn't know the Indians would able to sign him, but this would be nice if he is healthy. A good closer will help the pieces in a bullpen fall in place.

God I hope Matt Laporta turns into a beast in the bigs.

I don't follow baseball much anymore because the Tribe's been a massive letdown, it's too slow and our owner is shrew, but do we really want Jaret Wright back?

You mean Kerry Wood the 2008 All Star Closer for the NL? Dude's been phenomenal as a CL. It's a great signing and a move Shapiro usually never ever makes. 84 K's in 66 IP. That's better than anyone else on our team. By a decent margin (including CC)

His fastball is actually faster now than it was before he had all of his injuries as well.

A 2 year deal with an option on the 3rd?? I like.
