Deni has always been a worse shooter especially from the line, which is troubling. He can be the primary pick and roll ball handler, which Nance rarely does. I guess you would say he has more swing potential as a 3-4, but that is not even for sure anymore as Larry killed his minutes at the 3 and was super effective as a 3 and D guy.
One of the analysis that I saw about Deni not being a fit for the Cavs was that he needs the ball in his hands. He would essentially be replacing Cedi as hopefully a better ball handler and passer. However, Cedi rarely gets a chance to do those thing in the starting unit. He has turned himself from a ball handling 2 into a 3 and D wing(3 better than the d), but is that how Deni would be best used? I'd say no. If you give him Cedi's role, not only would it be a downgrade in shooting, but you would not be putting him in a situation to use his unique skills, mainly passing and ballhandling. Maybe the defense would be better against bigger guys?
