I'm looking for our front office to learn from their mistakes.
We've dumped a lot of resources into areas with very little to show for it.
DT:
- Jordan Elliott
- Tommy Togiai
- Perrion Winfrey
WR:
- Anthony Schwartz
- David Bell
- Michael Woods
I'm not calling all of these guys write-off busts, but that's a lot of picks and roster spots with very little production. I could also point to the Harrison Bryant pick, the Austin Hooper signing and the JJ3 signing as areas where I think we may be a little too numbers-focused and not enough scout-driven... but in order to actually make that conclusion, I'd have to be in the building and know everything that went into those discussions.
On the bright side, in 2020, I wouldn't have drafted Elliott/Phillips/Bryant. On the downside, I would've instead taken Duvernay, Malik Harrison and Anthony McFarland.
Boy has McFarland been a bust. Dude never got his explosiveness back after that injury at Maryland.
It's fun to go look back at the old draft stuff. I was called an OSU homer by
@Randolphkeys for saying I'd take Dobbins at pick 80 in one of the earlier mock drafts.
