Like all design, uniforms are highly subjective, but it's a topic I love and have strong feelings about nonetheless. I prefer the Cavs using the original wine and gold but in terms of overall design my favorite era was 03-10, which aligns with when I became a Cavs fan.
For individual uniforms:
#3 - The Original
I wasn't really aware of this set until they did the throwback during LeBron's first stint. It's a classic look and I still adore that script with the feather.
#2 - 80s Orange
The blue uniforms to follow are a little too Knicks for me, but the Knicks have bad juju around the orange jerseys they've worn in the past, so, we
could have owned this look if we really wanted. In any case, the updated bright orange material on the throwback look just POPS and I love it. I'm also just a sucker for orange and white/creamsicle in general.
#1 - 05 Navy
Popularized by LeBron's above average performance in Game 5 against the Pistons, but immortalized by Cavs great Shaquille O'Neal. This, to me at least, is one of the great looks in NBA history. The colors work seemlessly and the homage to the 70s candy-cane stripes is gorgeous (unlike its fun but garish predecessor). Navy doesn't really need to be part of the Cavs visual identity, but I'll always always love this.
Some honorable mentions:
FAV CITY - 2022, that mixtape was nice as hell and once again the candy-cane stripes are sweeeet. Hey, look who's in the foreground!
FAV XMAS - 2016, I prefer the gold getting involved to the cream (though both are classy as hell) and that game was certainly better.
FAV FAUXBACK - 2010 Wine & Gold 80s. The 2nd LeBron era version gets a lot of love, but I prefer the first iteration, as the piping has better balance IMO.
