2023 Cleveland Guardians Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is why I believe Brennan is going to have 20 HR seasons soon:
FsgF42JXwAI-bOV

The size and strength are there and will come along as he settles in and matures.

Yes, but being friends with Tim Blake Nelson's less talented illegitimate kid hurts any hope I had for him developing.

I didn't realize he was that big. I like the way he hit the ball hard twice against Castillo, too.

I saw the graphic during the game where it showed that the Guardians led the A.L. in one-run wins with 29 and were near the top in come-from-behind and walk-off wins. That's probably why every prediction I've seen has the G's failing to win 92 games again this year even though they've added Bell and Zunino. They think there was a lot of clutch hitting last year that won't be repeated.

I think a lot of it was the bullpen putting zeros on the board and giving the offense a chance.

The G's led the majors in going from 1st-to-3rd on a single last year. I thought they must have, but yesterday was the first time I saw the number confirming it.

The average success rate on stolen bases generally hovers around 70%....which is just about the break even rate for the value of a stolen base.

The Guardians were successful 81.5% last year.

Thru the middle of spring training, there was an average of 2.3 attempts per game, up quite a bit. 80.5% were successful.

This is a sea change in the game. Obviously, the better base runners are more valuable now than they were last year. Ones that can basically run with impunity under the new rules will be even more valuable.

Straw was successful 94.5% last year. Gimenez 87%. It doesnt take much improvement due to new rules for them to run with impunity.

What is everyone doing the rest of the year since the season is already over?

Gotta get on base to steal a base. I like Wilfredo Brennan but Oscar got to be in there somewhere, dude earned it.

Putting together trade packages for Bieber/Rosario with SC and CDAV?

What is it with Cleveland and opening days... between Browns dismal record and Zach showed Guardians/Indians as 3-7 in last 10 years.

Trying to figure out how to get 2 more catchers on the 40 man. One more on the 25 man roster.

8-17 over the last 25 years. Their ace is usually better than our ace. Hey, at least it's not as bad as the Browns since '99.

I already did the work so you wouldn't have to. Problem is, the Dodgers witnessed Bieber throwing 90 mph and have backed out of the deal. The good news is Bieber is likely to accept the extension offer now. The only question that remains is do you want to extend him for 6-8 years?
